I had the chance to work on this awesome project and excited to share it with you all! Please check out and share the Dual Enrollment Toolkit for students and families! It was a pleasure collaborating with these amazing organizations to put this together. United Way of Greater Los Angeles, EdTrust-West, Long Beach City College, Long Beach Unified School District, Public Advocates, Campaign for College Opportunity, UNITE-LA, Greater Los Angeles Education Foundation
FREE Bilingual Dual Enrollment Toolkit for students and families! Cause IMPACTS is proud to have partnered with United Way of Greater Los Angeles as part of their Community College Success Initiative to develop a first-of-its-kind Dual Enrollment Toolkit for students and families! For many students, dual enrollment can be a game-changer, allowing them to earn college credits while still in high school—but too often, access is limited by lack of awareness, confusing processes, and systemic barriers. This toolkit was designed to provide clear, accessible guidance so more students—especially those historically excluded from higher education pathways—can take advantage of this opportunity. We are incredibly grateful to United Way of Greater Los Angeles for their leadership in expanding equitable access to college. We also appreciate the organizations that partnered with us to develop the toolkit by sharing their expertise and advising us on what to include. Thank you EdTrust-West, Greater Los Angeles Education Foundation, Long Beach City College, Long Beach Unified School District, Public Advocates, Campaign for College Opportunity, and UNITE-LA. Together, we’re equipping students and families with the knowledge and tools they need to confidently navigate their educational journey. The toolkit, available in English and Spanish, can be downloaded here: https://lnkd.in/dDaymjr3 #CollegeSuccess #CommunityCollege #DualEnrollmentWeek #Edequity?

Just cause for eviction helps families remain in their neighborhoods, fosters community stability, and prevents homelessness. It's one of many strategies to prevent displacement, when residents must involuntarily relocate from their homes or neighborhoods due to factors beyond their control. Public Advocates is proud to have supported the work to create a just cause for eviction ordinance in Salinas. Thanks to Rooted in Marin for featuring us in their anti-displacement strategies report. Senior Staff Attorney Suzanne was credited as an interviewee and Public Advocates was named as having 'played a key role in shaping the [Salinas] ordinance to emphasize community priorities.' OPINION by Guillermo Mayer: This week’s executive order by President Donald Trump disingenuously titled “Ending Radical Indoctrination in K-12 Schooling” is a brazen assault on our educational freedoms and civil rights.?
-
"While the potential consequences of this order are staggering to imagine, the most effective way to resist it is clear:?Schools, educators and communities should not cave in to threats and intimidation and rush to voluntarily comply with this likely unconstitutional and unlawful order. Stay the course, partner with students, families and community organizations, and resist unless and until the courts have authorized any aspect of these outlandish proposals.?"- Guillermo Mayer Public Advocates
