For Day 4 of our #WomensHistoryMonth celebration, we highlight Track and Field legend Florence Griffith Joyner. Known for her daring speed and bold fashion statements both on and off the track, Florence Griffith-Joyner (commonly known as 'Flo-Jo') is one of the most iconic figures in both sports and Track and Field history. Winning three gold and two silver medals during her career that lasted from 1984 to 1989, Flo-Jo not only helped bring a new look to the sport but also helped usher in a new generation of fans and eventual runners. #WomensHistoryMonth #Shero Lekeidra Smith shares her Shero - a Southern heroine who shifted local power and racial dynamics as a trailblazer. Rose Sibley Simmons was the first Black circuit clerk of @Bolivar County post-Reconstruction. She played a pivotal role in breaking down racial barriers in Mississippi. Simmons's integrity and dedication paved the way for future generations. She influenced her husband, Willie Simmons. He became Mississippi's first Black state senator post-Reconstruction and its first Black transportation commissioner. The couple saw their daughter, Sarita Simmons, also became a state senator, marking a historic milestone. Rose Sibley Simmons's legacy continues to inspire progress and equality in Mississippi.

For Day 3 of our #WomensHistoryMonth celebration, we highlight WNBA Superstar A'ja Wilson. Standing tall as one of the leading players of the WNBA today, A'ja Wilson has quickly become one of the most decorated players in the league. A proud alumni of the University of South Carolina, where WNBA legend Dawn Staley coached her, Wilson captured the eyes and hearts of fans all over the globe with her talents on the court. By the time she finished in South Carolina, Wilson was the school's all-time leading scorer, leading the Gamecocks to an NCAA championship in 2017. She holds records for career points (2,389), blocked shots (363), and blocked shot average (2.6). Since being drafted in the WNBA, Wilson has slowed down whatsoever. LeKyndra Smith, Ed.D, LAT, ATC, CSM, CSPO gives flowers to her hometown Shero: Dr. Peggy Wells, MD. Dr. Peggy Wells, MD?a Mississippi Delta native with 40 plus years as a pediatrician. Dr. Wells was the first black woman to graduate from the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Mississippi. In the Delta, she attended Simmons Elementary and High School. She later graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and Tougaloo College.?In the 1970s, Dr. Wells founded?The Children's Clinic - Mississippi's only Black-White partnership practice. Wells has been recognized for her numerous contributions to the community. She is a strong supporter of cultural exposure and literacy. #WomensHistoryMonth

For Day 2 of our #WomensHistoryMonth celebration, we highlight Tennis Legend Althea Gibson. With a tennis career spanned over 20 impressive years, South Carolina's own Althea Gibson broke down barriers and helped usher in a new generation of athletes; Gibson made history by winning the French Open in 1956, Wimbledon in 1957, and 1958. Then, winning the U.S. Open in 1957 and 1958. After retiring from tennis in 1958, Gibson showed no signs of slowing down and turned her talents to Golf.
