  • Our Co-founder, Edward L., was invited to be one of the guest sharers to share how private practice could maximise the effort in safeguarding children considering the new policy of the Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse Ordinance in Hong Kong lately, in the One-day Child Safeguarding workshop organised by Save the Children and Division of Counselling Psychology in the Hong Kong Psychological Society. Sensitivity to cultural contexts, genuine empathy and compassion to children, keep learning and sharpening awareness are the paramount keys.     Started from youth, sowing seeds to flourish I am glad to represent PsyTimeHK 香港心理間 to design and hold a short career SEN counselling group with assessments and interactive games about raising awareness and acknowledgement with planning and action in Mental Capital and Financial Capital, such as self-exploration, interests and career explorations, stress and time management, and basic financial management. Self-exploration and increased self-awareness in mental health since young are essential for building resilience and increasing mental capital to cope with adversities and stress. That's why I am always fond of engaging in schools for instances, in-school counselling services, SEN groups for ADHD and ASD, parents and teacher seminars, and sharing. Let's share all of your professionals and insights to education for more and more youths and futures to establish and consolidate their resilience and wellbeing for better societal sustainable development, not only exclusive in environment, but more for the generations and generations with a better and better mental health awareness as well as well-rounded managing risks and difficulties. #ESG #careerworkshop #schoolservice #mentalcapital #ikigai #RIASEC

  • ???PsyTime HK: Female Insomnia Seminar Recap??? We’re thrilled to share that last Saturday, we successfully conducted an insightful seminar focused on?female insomnia. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us and made this event impactful! ???? During the seminar, our Counselling Psychologist & Co-founder, Edward L. highlighted the critical role of?sleep hygiene?and discussed effective strategies to manage insomnia and the emotions it triggers. By building healthier sleep habits and addressing underlying stressors, participants learned how to cope with sleeplessness both in the short-term and over the long run. A special thanks to our guest speaker,?Chinese medical practitioner Karen Cheung, who shared valuable perspectives on insomnia from a traditional Chinese medicine viewpoint. Karen explored how factors like dietary adjustments, herbal remedies, and acupressure can play a role in alleviating sleep issues naturally. Our holistic approach also included brief psychological and Chinese medical assessments, providing attendees with a comprehensive understanding of how to tackle insomnia without resorting to sleeping pills. Both psychological and medical strategies are essential in finding sustainable solutions to improve sleep quality and overall well-being. We’re grateful for the active participation and engagement during the event. At PsyTime, we remain committed to offering knowledge and solutions that bridge psychology and traditional wisdom.   • Do you always have an urge to check your phone even though you are running late, working on an important task, or spending time with your loved ones? You know that you don’t necessarily need to check your phone that often but it just becomes very natural to check the phone every 2 minutes. These impulsive and automatical acts may indicate that you are addicted to your mobile device which may be affecting your quality of life. It’s our pleasure to be invited to host the mobile addiction seminar in Hong Kong given the great success running the same event in Macau back in February. The event was kicked off by an insightful talk from our counselling psychologist Edward L. who discussed the problems evolved from mobile addiction and how that may disrupt the mental hygiene of society. This is worth our concern due to its impact on our brain, motivation, and behaviours. And then, we are able to reduce our unnecessary reliance on mobile devices by being aware of the phone time, practicing mindfulness and yoga to improve our focus and self-control, engaging in activities which can balance our dopamine and endorphin level etc., ultimately leading to better control over the use of mobile phones. Besides, we have started to launch a series of mobile addiction events to schools and other institutions in Hong Kong.   • Yesterday, we had the privilege of conducting a psychoeducation talk at The University of Hong Kong for their students who are preparing themselves for future career ??. Our topic, "Psychology of Workplace Communication," delved into essential aspects crucial for success in the professional world. ?? ?Our Counselling Psychologist Edward L. shared scenario in how empathy interplayed with mirroring effect and similarity-attraction fostering effective communication and rapport building. ??? ?? ?Besides, he demonstrated and elaborated a magically effective “Conjunction” in workplace communication with concrete examples and practices. ?? ?? ?In addition to the essence of communication, we underscored the significance of emotional intelligence, showcasing 4 major ways including mindfulness practice to manage our emotions for responsible responses. ?? Psychology is not only for improving mental wellness, but also essential for strengthening and improving soft skills as human activities are rooted in the basis of psychology.
