Research on adverse psych-delic experiences is limited - potentially leading to a one-sided view about the healing potential of psych-delics. It's crucial to ensure anyone embarking on a psych-delic journey is presented with both the rewards and risks to make a better informed decision and can easily access support systems following difficult experiences. ?? Read the full study at: https://lnkd.in/ghVUtk3G --- ?? At PsyAware we want to create a culture around psych-delics that puts participant safety and care at the forefront. One potential consequence of the FDA’s decision not to approve MDMA therapy as a treatment for PTSD will be a move in psychedelic research to conduct research on drugs without the provision of therapy. By not providing therapy, some psychedelic research organisations may hope to avoid having to disentangle the effect of the drug from the therapeutic input, thus making it easier to secure regulatory approval. However, this has opened up a number of questions which are raising eyebrows about whether this is a good direction for psychedelic science to move in. It is established that a not insignificant number of people who use psychedelics, such as 5-MeO, have challenging experiences or require long term support to integrate their experience. PsyAware has already spoken to people working on trials about some of the challenges people experience integrating a 5-MeO experience. What’s more, it seems like this may be a particularly high risk group to be taking 5-MeO without ongoing therapeutic support. Psychosis can occur in mothers experiencing postpartum depression, and there is a potential for both the mother and child to experience harm during this period. Is giving mothers a highly potent and potentially destabilising psychedelic, during such a period of such change and uncertainty, a move in the right direction? And if so, is it best to do so without the provision of structured therapy? https://lnkd.in/eGTFQmYr

?? Psychedelics: The Good, The Bad, and The Reality ?? What happens when two prominent voices in psychedelic research come together to reflect on their journeys, filled with idealism, hard truths, and life-changing lessons? Join us on September 17th, 7-8 pm UK time, for a candid conversation between Adam Aronovich, content creator and host of Healing from Healing, a platform that explores the complexities of the wellness industry, and Rosalind Watts, founder of ACER Integration, as they explore how psychedelics influence connectedness—both the light and shadow sides. Hosted by Anya Oleksiuk, Founder and Director of PsyAware, this event will cover everything from early hopes that psychedelics could change the world, to the realities of their challenges, the importance of grounded community, and why—despite the ups and downs—they still believe in the power of psychedelics when used thoughtfully. Expect honest insights, valuable reflections, and a few laughs along the way. ?? Don’t miss out on this important discussion. Register here for FREE https://lnkd.in/eEVUnj4A?

Join us tonight at 7pm to discuss psychedelic social media censorship, with a panel featuring Adam Waugh (PsyAware), Steve Rolles (Transform), Aimee Tollan (Breaking Convention) and Dr Rosalind Watts (ACER integration). Tickets are free but donations would be so helpful. In recent weeks, PsyAware and a number of other psychedelic organisations had their Facebook / Instagram pages shut down and individuals were banned. We are now in contact with Meta, and they have agreed to work with us so we can support them with distinguishing drug policy, research and harm reduction from drug selling posts. There will be a Q&A, where you can share experiences and we can collectively work together to find a solution. We have created a form so we can understand how actions from Meta have affected psychedelic organisations. We will then use all of this feedback in our conversations with Meta, so we are best informed to get them to change policy and how it is implemented. Sign up for the event: https://lnkd.in/dyEfq9PB

We need your support in fighting against Meta! Please sign and spread the word about our Open Letter! In recent weeks, Meta (Facebook / Instagram) has removed the accounts of several UK organisations involved in psychedelic research, policy, and harm reduction. Additionally, they have banned or suspended the personal accounts of individuals working in this field. Affected organisations include PsyAware, Breaking Convention, Psilocybin Access Rights (PAR), The Psychedelic Society, and the documentary film page for The Psychedelic Chronicles, amongst others. HELP US TO TAKE ACTION! SIGN THE OPEN LETTER. https://lnkd.in/exER27GD
