Exhaustion. That may be how many school professionals out there feel halfway through the second semester of this school year. Putting in the hard work to teach and care for students is rewarding but can also be extremely tiring. We want to remind and encourage those school professionals to practice self-care. Today is #WorldSleepDay, where the theme is prioritizing sleep health! Research institutions and federal agencies recommend that adults get at least 7 hours of quality sleep each night. However, we know that achieving this can be difficult, especially for shift workers. To improve the quality of your sleep and rest, try these tips: ?? A healthy diet and exercise. The “what, when, and how often” of food consumption can impact an individual’s overall health, including sleep and mood. Also, exercising can help you wind down. ??? Make sure your bedroom is cool, dark, and quiet to reduce sleep interruptions ?? Take a nap! I mean, who doesn’t like naps, right?! So, let’s take today to think about our sleep health and how to improve it. Also, don’t sleep on taking naps! There's no shame! ??
