The PSU Business Accelerator supports and serves tech, bioscience, and green companies from their early stage through growth by providing facilities, programming, and mentors while activating and engaging relationships with each other, PSU, and the entrepreneur ecosystem. The 200+ people who work for Accelerator companies are on a mission. Located at the south end of Portland's central business district near the SW waterfront, the Accelerator draws the region's top science and technology startups with turn-key affordable work space; conference room access; monthly CEO meetings and topic-related Lunch & Learns, plus ready information on business basics, raising funds and managing people. The Accelerator is a connection point to PSU resources, linking companies to research and development capabilities of university faculty and the talent and energy of student project teams. Informal socials, pitch practice and office hours by skilled mentors and investors round out the exceptional offerings at PSU Business Accelerator.

We're looking for passionate volunteers and mentors to help high school students explore the exciting world of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. When I first moved to Portland in 2013, I was so impressed by the community and events around town to help founders get to the next stage of their business. One in particular was Startup Weekend. The 48-hour hackathon helped give founders thinking about building something, a weekend to see how far they could get with their idea. Many of these events happened at the Portland State University Business Accelerator building on SW Corbett. I remember how these events were always well-attended and provided the community with a chance to see a bunch of early-stage startups. Sadly, Hacklandia will be the last hackathon at the SW Corbett building as the building is closing by the end of the year.
