Hey, we're glad to see a Portland State University alum being featured by ITE! Ray Atkinson, AICP was a Master of Urban & Regional Planning (MURP) student here at the PSU Nohad A. Toulan School of Urban Studies and Planning, and while at PSU he worked on a team completing a community project for the City of Tigard, Oregon. It's exciting to see he's now the first-ever Sustainable Transportation Coordinator for the City of Key West Florida!

One of the first classes MURP students take, Planning Methods I, gives students the opportunity to have a positive impact on their community. The fall 2024 class worked with the?Rosewood Initiative, a nonprofit in East Portland that fosters collaboration and belonging in the community. Last week, Portland State University faculty and students from the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science, Portland State University and the PSU Nohad A. Toulan School of Urban Studies and Planning shared some of the research they've been working on at the largest transportation conference in the world. The annual meeting of the Transportation Research Board took place in Washington, DC. from January 5–9, 2025, and PSU research was represented in multiple sessions. PSU students who presented their own original research at the conference included Evan Howington, Elizabeth Yates, BSCE, EIT, Sophia Semensky, Kayla Sorenson and Ana Tijerina Esquino, EI. Faculty and research associates who shared their work included John MacArthur, Nathan McNeil, Sirisha Kothuri, Joseph Broach, Jason C.
