Today, we are celebrating our Assistant Director of Programs, Masumi Lint who has been at CEPE for 3 years (and 14 years at Portland State). View the slideshow to learn more about Masumi and what she finds most rewarding about working with CEPE. To learn more about what we do at CEPE, visit us online: https://hubs.ly/Q036wDdw0 - - - Accessible transcript of interview featured in presentation slides below: Question: What do you like about working at CEPE? Masumi: “Besides the privilege of working with an amazing team of staff and SME instructors, I appreciate the content learning opportunities I have at work. This is my 14th year working for PSU, and 3rd year working for CEPE. I learn a lot from this team daily. Learning helps me stay humble and keeps my workdays exciting. My educational and professional background before joining CEPE was International Relations and Education and I am still new to the professional development field. I enjoy all aspects of being a part of CEPE and feel that we, at CEPE, embody the mission of PSU’s motto, ‘Let Knowledge Serve the City.’” Question: Have you taken a CEPE class? What did you take from it? Masumi: “So far, I have taken 3 certificate programs. Leadership, DEI and Intercultural Business. I am new to a supervisor role so going through these programs helped me learn how best to lead and support my team. These programs gave me broader perspectives and also helped me equip myself with tools I could put into use and build on what I had already experienced. I also enjoy meeting new people in the courses I have taken. Other students are from different sectors yet share the same interests and goals. I felt like I made new professional connections and I learned different perspectives from my classmates.” Question: What do you do to break free from everyday work? Masumi: “I try to ride my bike to commute. Even though the commute is directly connected to working, I enjoy spending thirty minutes riding my bike to shift my focus from working to home. I also enjoy outdoor activities with my children. When I am out and about, I spend less time on devices and detach from work. I also enjoy making things, from small DIY projects on my home to art, crafting, or cooking. Making something uses different parts of my brain and I like it!” Thanks, Masumi Lint! ??
