DSA Update ?? The Division of the State Architect (DSA) has updated IR 16-5: Bleachers and Grandstands, leading to the creation of a new IR 16-4: Folding and Telescopic Seating. Prior to the 2022 CBC edition, DSA provided guidance for bleachers, grandstands, and folding/telescopic seating in a single document. Now, this guidance is split into two separate documents: ?? IR 16-4 – Covers indoor folding and telescopic seating systems. ?? IR 16-5 – Focuses on fixed bleachers and grandstands, including a new section on design guidance for common bleacher components. My entire team at Project Support Services just finished reading Meetings Suck, a book that offers practical advice on making meetings more efficient and effective. I am excited to share some key takeaways that have truly transformed how we approach meetings! 1?? Have an Agenda: As Cameron Herold wisely says, “No agenda, no attenda.” Having a clear agenda is crucial. It sets the purpose of the meeting and ensures that everyone remains focused and productive. 2?? Define the Meeting Style: Meetings can be informative, creative, or for consensus. Knowing the style beforehand helps participants prepare appropriately and engage more effectively. 3?? Evaluate Attendance Needs: Do you need to be in the whole meeting or just a portion? Assessing who really needs to be there can save time and resources, making meetings more efficient for everyone involved. These takeaways have already started making a big difference in our meetings, and we’re excited to continue refining our approach.
