There is strong evidence that psilocybin could play a very important role in a new generation of treatments for those with a variety of mental and physical health conditions. Research into this incredibly promising area is held back by psilocybin's classification as a 'schedule 1' drug. Schedule 1 is for drugs deemed to have 'no medical value'. Psilocybin does not belong there. PAR.global campaigns for the rescheduling of psilocybin as part of our belief in evidence-based drugs policy. Unjustified barriers to research on this chemical should be safely removed. Go to our website https://www.par.global/ to sign the gov.uk petition and follow the campaign. PAR.global is a UK non-profit working as part of the global campaign to reschedule psilocybin.

Paul Stamets highlighting how psilocybin is available in nature… Liberty Caps (Psilocybe semilanceata) are native to the UK; changing the regulatory law in the UK, will allow for research to be conducted in a more economical way. The money saved could be used to fund further research to gain better understanding of psychedelic compounds.
Interest in psychedelic therapy is growing, but most studies focus on synthetic compounds. In fact, of the 198 studies posted on clinicaltrials.gov, of which 49 have been completed with the molecule yet only 1 with psilocybin mushrooms. Insights from our Roots To Thrive program show that participants experienced similar benefits from whole Psilocybe mushrooms compared to synthetic psilocybin, often preferring the natural forms. This highlights the importance of exploring whole mushrooms and plant materials, which have been used for centuries in traditional practices. By advocating for research into these natural options, we could significantly enhance our understanding of effective mental health treatments. More research is needed on comparing psilocybin in its pure or complex forms. Which is better: the molecule or the mushroom? https://lnkd.in/gUs6cbSj

This is very profound from Bill Burr. With all the tensions right now it feels like the time to trust the emerging evidence and break down the stigma around entheogens. Professor David Nutt recently spoke to Sun Health about the transformative potential of psilocybin: “It is almost certainly the most promising development innovation in the treatment of mental illness and also some neurological illnesses for 50 years.” https://lnkd.in/e2Bk3uUv
An article in The Sun today highlights the great potential of psilocybin as a mental health treatment, with wise words from Professor David Nutt Psilocybin, the active compound in "magic mushrooms," is showing promising results in clinical trials for various mental health conditions. Recent studies suggest psilocybin could be a game-changer for treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, and addiction. Unlike traditional antidepressants, it may offer rapid and long-lasting relief without common side effects. Key points: ? Psilocybin boosts brain connectivity in regions associated with depression ? A single dose can have effects lasting weeks ? Trials show potential for treating opioid and gambling addictions ? Australia and some US states have already legalized medical use While research is still ongoing, experts like Prof. David Nutt at Imperial College London believe psilocybin could be "the most promising development in treating mental illness in 50 years." As mental health challenges continue to rise globally, innovative treatments like psilocybin offer hope for those who haven't found success with traditional therapies. What are your thoughts on psychedelic medicine? Should more countries fast-track research into these promising compounds? #MentalHealth #PsychedelicMedicine #Innovation #Healthcare

I had the pleasure of discussing veterans mental health with Helen Maguire BEM my local MP yesterday. Veterans PTSD is an issue very close to my heart through my work with Heroic Hearts Project UK Heroic Hearts Project led by Keith J Abraham and Jesse Gould. Mental health in veterans is a huge issue. Thanks to Helen Maguire BEM for listening and taking on board and to Charlotte Nicholls on the labour benches for her advocacy.

Sergey Brin is investing and now Richard Branson is publicly advocating A key challenge is to move from the stigma of hedonism and recreation to intentional and therapeutic use. A rebrand of the whole exercise. There is so much potential if we can have a grown up discussion and get the right frameworks in place. Like any human endeavour there will be differences of opinion and this area touches some very sensitive subjects from sacred indigenous traditional practice to ethical therapy to pharma to conservation and more. Interesting times. https://lnkd.in/epZYGhQq
Richard Branson being around for the 60s, probably isnt a Virgin to psilocybin. In a recent blogpost he explains how for a long time has criticised the failed war on drugs and support harm-reduction strategies. Prohibition hinders research into psychedelics, which show promise for treating PTSD and depression. Meeting veterans who benefited from psychedelics was powerful. We need to end the war on drugs and embrace these therapies. https://lnkd.in/ee78xwTt #virgin #richardbranson #dyslexicthinking For more info on the PAR (Psilocybin Access Rights) campaign, visit links in bio. #psilocybin #access #rights #PAR #medicine #trd #depression #ptsd #evidence #psychedelic #health #research #mushroom #mentalhealth #wellbeing #addiction #alcoholism #depression #trd #ocd #anxiety #Psychedelics #MentalHealth #Neuroplasticity #Science #mindmedicine

Its been an amazing year, grounding Wasing near Reading, Berkshire as a place for extraordinary events and festivals bringing ritual and ceremony where we can. We are almost at the end of a busy summer, starting with our Solstice festival, moving through the Mount concerts with luminaries such as Paulo Nutini, Crowded House, Underworld and Jungle, through to the extraordinary Medicine Festival. At Medicine we saw the coming together of a group of Israeli and Palestinian musicians, the Ripples Alliance, joining forces through music, performance, storytelling and prayer to show the power of connection over separation at this difficult time. Festival as incubator? Now finally we are a week away from our inaugural Equinox Festival to book end the summer. Next week we have US Mycologist Paul Stamets of Fantastic Fungi film joining us for an amazing talk about his new book coming out next year, Nittin Sawhney who is bringing his extraordinary music and many other wonderful acts. The festival is in full support of Brian Eno's charity EarthPercent and PAR.global; two very important partners as we face such enormous ecological challenges rooted in our separation from nature. Its going to be sunny and beautiful, and we would love to see you there. A wonderful end to the summer...Friday 20th- Sunday 22nd September. www.wasing.co.uk/equinox #festival #nature #connection #music #mycology #talks #community #medicine
