Wow, what an amazing week at #CiscoLive! A keynote from Tom Brady, a concert by Elton John, so many good education sessions, and such great networking! Especially loved "Bridging Gaps & Building Futures" hosted by Women of Cisco and featuring Kimberly King. Denise Lee Yeh, Maureen Lonergan, Portia Roberson, and Diane Takeuchi - couldn't agree with Diane more about how when there is strong purpose it doesn't even feel like work! Also loved "Breaking Barriers: Technical Women Shaping the Future" with Michelle Carter, Melinda Egan, Nadine Fakhoury, Marcus Moffett, Mary Piontkowski, Darby Zero - especially Mary's note on the positive impact of "micro-affirmations"! Also learning about all the innovative ways Cisco is shaping the future, especially with the Splunk acquisition, was so inspiring - digital resilience, full-stack observability, AI technology, etc. - Insight Global is so proud to work with such an impressive industry leader!

HR Leader & Strategic Innovator | Expertise in Talent Management, Cost Optimization, Compliance, and Transformative HR Solutions

As an HR professional, I agree with this statement. People want to feel valued at work. The Great Reskilling is in full swing and employers need to understand if they want to attract and retain top talent they are going to have to invest in their employee's career aspirations. If you think that the cost of developing your employees is too high, weigh it against the cost of losing that person to your competitor and make your decision based on those numbers. I am pretty sure that it is cheaper to develop current talent than it is to find their replacement. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

I dreaded going to work each day. In my next job, I couldn’t wait. Here’s what changed: Company. Culture. Improving culture is a win-win. When the team feels valued, they don’t quit and perform better: ? MIT Sloan research shows that toxic culture is 10.4x more likely to contribute to employee attrition than compensation! ? A University of Oxford study found that happy employees are 13% more productive. Here are 8 common cultural issues and steps you can take to fix them: 1/ Workplace Negativity Cure this by… ? Recognizing and rewarding those who contribute to a positive culture. ? Resolving conflicts constructively to stop resentment from brewing. 2/ Promoting the Wrong People Cure this by… ? Collecting 360 feedback and using it in promotion decisions. ? Aligning hiring criteria (e.g. no a**holes) with company culture. 3/ Tolerating Toxicity Cure this by… ? Ensure leaders role model positive behaviors. ? Enforce a Zero-Tolerance Policy with strict consequences. ? Setting up anonymous reporting with multiple contact points for employees. 4/ Micromanagement Cure this by… ? Giving people responsibility and setting clear expectations and deadlines without overseeing every detail. ? Encouraging employees to make decisions on their tasks to foster independence. 5/ Ignoring Employee Feedback Cure: ? Survey employees on workplace dynamics and product direction. Collect feedback from suggestion boxes and monthly skip level meetings. ? Act on feedback to visibly improve the workplace. 6/ Limited Recognition and Rewards Cure this by… ? Paying people well! ? Recognizing hard work publicly. Use meetings and rewards to highlight employees' contributions. 7/ Poor Communication By Leadership Cure this by… ? Holding a weekly all-hands meeting to share company news and answer employee questions. ? Encouraging leaders to be open about company challenges and successes. 8/ Few Growth Opportunities Cure this by… ? Creating and communicating clear career paths at your company. ? Offering budget for training in desirable skills. ? Encouraging internal transfers that align with your team’s career aspirations. Ultimately, these issues come from the top. Leadership must take responsibility for creating an environment where their team will thrive. Improving culture is win-win. Happy employees means higher productivity and better results. --- ?? Join us in Celebrating Public Service Recognition Week! ?? This week, we're honoring the dedication and resilience of public servants who have adapted and innovated to meet the evolving needs of the public, especially during challenging times like the pandemic. Lee Becker, VP of Solutions Principal at Medallia and former U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs leader, emphasizes the importance of recognizing the tireless efforts of government employees. They're the unsung heroes who work tirelessly to ensure the best care, benefits, and services for the people they serve. As we celebrate Public Service Recognition Week, let's spotlight three agencies that have gone above and beyond to serve their communities: ?? TSA: Implementing new communication systems and a mobile app to streamline operations and enhance customer service at airports nationwide. ?? Bureau of Fiscal Service: Modernizing financial systems and governance processes to efficiently allocate pandemic relief funds and support critical programs. US Veterans Affairs: Investing in advanced engagement tools and redesigned services to provide responsive care and support to our nation's veterans. These agencies, along with countless others, have demonstrated remarkable adaptability and dedication in the face of unprecedented challenges. Join us in expressing gratitude to all public servants for their unwavering commitment to serving the public good! #PublicServiceRecognitionWeek #PSHRANC #PublicSectorHeroes Source Cited: https://lnkd.in/eugptw3X
