Did you know we had our own real-life version of the mythical Betty Crocker? ?? The popularity of radio in the 1920s and 1930s led Public Service to create its own Radio Cooking School with host Ada Bessie Swann, director of Public Service’s home economics department. Tens of thousands of listeners wrote in regularly for Swann’s recipes, designed to take advantage of the gas stoves and electric refrigerators that were modernizing American kitchens … and our appliance salesmen even took her cooking classes to better understand the products they sold. #PSEGHistory
