?Meet the Board? Jara is the global corporate communications director for HDR. Jara and her team manage the tone and delivery of internal and external communications. As a member of PRSA since 2021 and recent APR, Jara believes in the power of smart, brave, thoughtful and inclusive communication strategies. Jara’s journey has taken her from earning a graduate degree in journalism to working in global non-profit communications, and even being part of the first Trader Joe’s team in Nebraska. These diverse experiences inform her approach to corporate communications at HDR. ?Meet the Board? After a dynamic first career as a newscast producer and an executive producer at television stations throughout the Midwest, Sue transitioned to public relations in 2014. As the Public Information Officer for the Metropolitan Area Planning Agency (MAPA), she collaborates across the agency to drive awareness of MAPA’s many projects and plans through creative storytelling and content creation, public relations, and social media. Sue is serving currently as chair of PRSA Nebraska’s Sponsorship Committee. She is civic-minded and served for five years on the Bellevue Planning Commission, including two years as chair. Fun Fact: Sue is an avid cyclist and participates every year in RAGBRAI, the Des Moines Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa.??♀? ??

? Meet the Board? Claudia Bohn is director of public relations/communications for Methodist Health System. She joined Methodist in 2011 as a communications/PR specialist and was promoted to her current position in 2013. She oversees a team who handle all public relations and communications efforts for the health system, social media platforms and The Meaning of Care Magazine. A graduate of Kansas State University, she spent five years as a reporter/editor at the York News-Times and four years as editor for the Nebraska Signal in Geneva. She served on the Advocacy Committee of the Institute for Career Advancement Needs (ICAN) for 10 years, and has been an advisory board member for the Omaha World-Herald Inspire Awards the past three years. She is a big fan of Husker volleyball, all things Kansas State and golfing with family and friends. ?? ? ???♀?

? Meet the Board? Betsy Emmons, Ph.D., APR, MSL, is an associate professor of sports promotion in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She has been a public relations professor educator for over 15 years and an advocate for PR education. Prior to her career in academia, she was a public relations professional in the sports, travel, non-profit and consulting industries. She is new to Nebraska and has been checking off the Nebraska to-do list, including trying Runza’s, visiting the sports venues in Lincoln and Omaha and learning Huskers lore.?? ?? ????

Andréa Subitoni Antonio, M.A., is a bilingual (English/Portuguese) dynamic public relations and marketing professional specializing in digital communication, accessibility, and inclusive storytelling. She currently serves as a Continuing Education Coordinator II at Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, overseeing humanities program development and strategic marketing initiatives. With a Master's in Digital Communication/Media-Multimedia from the University of Nevada, Reno, and a Lato Sensu Postgraduate Specialization in Strategic People Management from Brazil, Andrea has led social media campaigns that amplify diverse voices and enhance community engagement. Her work includes Instagram takeovers, Reel campaigns, and events like Unity in Diversity and American Sign Language Day. She also co-taught social media classes and contributed to initiatives that raised $3.6M for graduate education. Andrea is learning to survive in Nebraska's winter and drive on snow.?? ?? ?? ??

? Meet the Board? Angela Roeber, APR, has more than 20 years of marketing and communications experience, primarily in the non-profit industry. As the Director of Communications for Project Harmony Child Advocacy Center, Angela plays an integral role in planning, directing and coordinating the marketing and communication efforts for Project Harmony's programs, services, events and campaigns. Angela launched the Project Be Someone Campaign in April 2017 with national recognition - July 21 is now recognized as National Be Someone Day. Angela has been invited to present at the National Children's Alliance 2018, 2023 and 2024 Leadership Conference in Washington, DC where she shared what it takes to build a strong communication foundation, the right partners needed and the creative process for cultivating and engaging all audiences.
