After years of proving the supplemental lighting market for cannabis with CUBE, we at Proximity are thrilled to announce CUBE 2.0! Side lighting has never been done so well and been so simple. If you are considering supplemental light for your grow please reach out.
关于我们
PROXIMITY, formerly Grow Light Design, challenges the current lighting design status quo for cannabis cultivation with patented and best-in-class sub-canopy/intercanopy/side lighting systems. PROXIMITY lighting systems distribute light to under-served, light-deprived areas in controlled environment cannabis cultivation and can be easily integrated into existing practices and increase yield by 20%+ with production in otherwise unproductive areas of the plant. PROXIMITY provides more efficient use of energy and results in an increase in large buds, a significant revenue driver for cultivation facilities.

CULTA in Maryland deployed the Proximity CUBE supplemental lighting system over 2 years ago and this is their testimonial with verified results, proving consistent yield and quality increases of 30%+ and more efficiency in their operations with the addition of our lighting. Reach out to us and let us do the same for your cultivation facility. Add to your current setup or design into a new facility with ease. Special thanks to Jay Bouton V for his meticulous evaluation and deep understanding of cannabis cultivation which is proving to advance the industry generally. He is a true leader!

Thank you Jim Berry for being a thought leader and a source of insight for the cannabis industry. We echo the observation that everyone at the MJ Bizcon show had undercanopy fixtures, even Xtrimmer, a non-lighting company. Proximity has followed the science and developed the CUBE and RACK which delivers side and/or inter lighting which science will tell you has a 2x better photosynthetic rate as lighting from underneath.
HomeGrown Season 7! Well, I’ve got no trichs today for #trichedouttuesday, but it’s day one of flower here and we’ve got a lot coming together in the basement! #MJBizCon2024 is in my rear view mirror, I’m caught up on sleep and have my head back in the garden! There were a lot of lighting vendors at MJ. Most of the usual suspects, along with a ton of Chinese vendors struggling to peddle their goods directly. And most of them seemed to have some sort of undercanopy option. But not one of them was displaying side lighting, which makes much more sense to me from the plant’s perspective. You know, with all of the photo receptors on the top of the leaves. But, when most of the pack is heading one direction, I’m usually wondering what’s in the other direction. So I decided to make this cycle all about a proper comparison of side lighting against a control of top-down only plants. Shown in front is the CUBE from Proximity, which we’re going to run through the paces. Each pattern is top lit with the same wattage and PPFD, so the CUBE is adding 200W to the front tray. I’ve got nine Cap Junkies under each light. The patterns are fairly equal in development. Each plant is in about 4 gallons of Tilth Soil Bloom and will be fed continuously, but very lightly, through an emitter system. An EC of about 0.8 to 1.0. More on Tilth Soil later, but so far, I’m loving the mix. I ran a plant in just soil my last round to get a baseline for nutrient depletion and I can definitely steer this soil the way that I like. The side-lit side will start off with about 15% more irrigation to compensate for the added wattage. I’ll adjust accordingly after seeing volumetric water content and EC data from a Growbud Dro. No runoff, baby. They’ve all been inoculated with a variety of mycorrhizae and will be hand-watered a bacterial tea about once a week, along with a few things that don’t play nicely with emitters. Somehow along the way, we picked up a minor outbreak of western flower thrips. You can see the telltale leaf damage in a few of the latter photos. I think we’ll be attacking them with BTi in the soil and a mycoinsecticide up top, but more on that after I actually reach out to some IPM contacts I made at MJ. Stay tuned. This run is gonna be a banger. Sponsored by CABA, who’s CTB-6 720 is handling the overhead like a champ.

Cutting Energy Costs with PROXIMITY’s CUBE: Efficiency at its Best Energy efficiency is a cornerstone of sustainable and profitable cannabis cultivation. Traditional lighting systems often require excessive energy output to ensure adequate light delivery, especially for the lower canopy. PROXIMITY’s CUBE fixtures circumvent this issue by delivering light directly where it’s needed most, reducing the distance light must travel to reach under-served areas and thereby enhancing energy efficiency.

Modern cannabis cultivation is evolving with big budgets focused on incremental (~3-5%) changes that amount to big dollars with lighting as unquestionably the most impactful determining factor. "Intercanopy" or "proximity" lighting has recently emerged as the MOST impactful advancement with an over 20% increase in production reported by all manufacturer and adopter evaluations, tests and trials. Contact PROXIMITY today to partner with the best to successfully upgrade your facilities.
