? Why is public procurement so challenging? Private sector buyers focus on value, quality, and risk. Public sector buyers must also: - Deliver government policy - Ensure supply continuity in critical areas like health and infrastructure. - Align diverse stakeholders - citizens, politicians, and experts. - Navigate evolving regulations, from the Procurement Act to case law. Failure to comply can lead to a Procurement Challenge - where a bidder disputes an award decision. Learn about the risks and how to reduce them in our article here: https://lnkd.in/efRQ-JFn

? This #InternationalWomensDay, we’re celebrating the incredible women of Proxima and the leaders who are driving change. This week, we had the privilege of hearing from Dame Inga Beale, the first former female CEO of Lloyd's of London and a champion for workplace equality. She shared with us her inspiring journey, her insights on inclusive leadership, and the importance of this year’s theme: #AcceleratingAction. While progress has been made, she highlighted the need to do more to support the next generation of women in leadership. "I was especially inspired by Inga’s message of: “To drive long term success, include people in designing the future”. Often, as a leader, I think I’m supposed to have all the answers. This helped me to remember that across the wider team, everyone has a view and can provide a piece of the puzzle." - Ashley Clark, Vice President Thank you for joining us, Dame Inga Beale! And thank you to all the women at Proxima for what you do every day. ??

?? The US has today introduced 25% tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico, raising concerns about increased costs and potential supply chain disruptions for businesses worldwide. ? Our Executive Vice President, Simon Geale, shared his insights on what this means for global businesses and how they can respond: "The introduction of 25% US tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico has been trailed for some time, but global businesses are now facing the music with them coming into force. We can expect this to send a ripple effect through global supply chains, causing cost increases and production delays. Many US and European companies depend on international supply networks, and these new trade barriers could force businesses to renegotiate contracts and find new ways to manage rising costs. ? "The ripple effects will be particularly pronounced in industries dependent on cross-border trade, such as automotive, technology, and consumer goods, where tariffs can lead to higher prices for both businesses and consumers. Some of the sectors Trump wants to future-proof and like many policies, this is a bet, and time will tell. But during that time there will be winners and losers. ? "Companies should look at diversifying their supplier base, building stronger regional partnerships, and investing in digital supply chain solutions that enhance visibility and flexibility. Some businesses may pass costs on to customers, but those that plan ahead and find ways to reduce risk will be in a stronger position to stay competitive." ? #SupplyChain #GlobalTrade #Tariffs

Lauren Feery, CPO at DS Smith, was one of the contributors to our latest CPO Report. In it she highlighted the complex landscape that procurement leaders will need to navigate this year. ? In particular, Lauren outlines that balancing financial goals, sustainability objectives and wider business needs is becoming more challenging for many working in the sector. She cites a number of reasons for this - from the financial pressures companies face to issues around declining investments in decarbonization. ? What's the solution? Lauren talks us through her approach of collaborating with partners and making decisions that are informed by the whole rather than the parts. ? You can read more here ?? https://lnkd.in/ed8Wqnup
