Our Stormwater Improvement Project for the City of Mendota was awarded the APWA Central California Chapter Project of the Year in the Environment Category (Less than $5M Division)! This project addressed significant #flooding issues that had caused repeated #propertydamage in the downtown area. It is designed to protect residents and businesses while integrating environmentally conscious solutions like the innovative "Urban Tree Sponge" for #stormwater management and tree #irrigation. ???? A big thank you to the California Natural Resources Agency for #Prop68 funding and to our design partners, Urban Rain Design, Inc., Council for Watershed Health, ICAD Automation, Quadriga Landscape Architecture and Planning, Inc., BSK Associates , and Avison Construction Inc. for helping us make this vision a reality. Provost & Pritchard recently worked with the City of Porterville to update its #GeneralPlan to comply with recent legislation in California. Jurisdictions are now required to consider #climateadaptation planning and #environmentaljustice in their general plans. The Porterville 2030 General Plan was updated to address fire, flooding, climate adaptation, and health risks facing Porterville. For many small communities, relying just on #CalEnviroScreen to identify disadvantaged neighborhoods can be difficult. Our team used tailored analysis and additional data sources to identify the unique community needs for the City of Porterville. This approach enabled us to draft community-specific policies that address climate and health-related risks while meeting legislative requirements—moving beyond broad, one-size-fits-all solutions to create effective, practical strategies for Porterville. We had the honor of attending the groundbreaking ceremony for the new David T. Cardenas Senior Center and Police Headquarters. With the City of Fowler outgrowing its existing Senior Center, this new 14,600 square-foot joint-use facility will bring state-of-the-art amenities to the heart of downtown, serving both seniors and law enforcement. We’re proud to serve as the project’s Civil Engineer, collaborating with Dewberry Architects on this redevelopment. This project holds special significance as the building will be named in honor of the late David Cardenas, beloved mayor and dedicated community advocate. His legacy will live on in this communal space for the people of Fowler. #CivilEngineering #CommunityDevelopment

This species was recently voted to be a candidate species under the California #EndangeredSpecies Act (the official notice by the California Fish and Game Commission is expected soon) and will receive protections under #CESA while the California Department of Fish and Wildlife reviews the petition over the next 12-18 months. #BurrowingOwl #WildlifeProtection #CaliforniaWildlife #UrbanWildlife
