关于我们
Founded in 1880 to stimulate the appreciation of art in the community, the Club has long been a place for artists and art patrons to congregate, create, display and circulate works of art. Located along Thomas Street, in the shadow of the First Baptist Church, the Providence Art Club is a picturesque procession of historic houses, home to studios, galleries and the clubhouse. Through its public programs, its art instruction classes for members and its active exhibition schedule, the Providence Art Club continues a tradition of sponsoring and supporting the visual arts in Providence and throughout Rhode Island.

The entire Providence Art Club community is mourning the recent passing of David DePetrillo, who served as the Club’s President from 2013 - 2017. A Patron Member of the Art Club since 1986, David served on our Board of Managers from 1996-2013 prior to his Presidency. A Life Member, he also received the Art Club Medal for his exemplary services to the organization. David was a passionate collector and a tireless supporter of the Club. David had a long and distinguished career in public service and worked as Rhode Island’s Director of Tourism for over 25 years. In the coming months, David’s 2018 Presidential Portrait, painted by Harley Bartlett, will be on view over the mantle in the Club’s lobby. It is bookended by plates from David’s collection that he had on display at the Club. Please keep David’s wife Jean and their extended family in your thoughts at this time. Calling hours for David will take place Sunday, March 2 at 4pm at Nardolillo Funeral Home in Cranston. His funeral will be held Monday, March 3 at 10am at Holy Apostles Catholic Church in Cranston.
