Our lovely Executive Director, Fatimah Gifford, MAODC had 'a ball' at The Afiya Center 's End With Red Gala. But it was the inspiring words of The Afiya Center's Executive Director, Dr. Marsha Jones that stole the show: “I will fight a lion for Black women. For Black women with HIV… they haven’t created a beast that I wouldn’t fight." -Dr. Marsha Jones

Why do we celebrate Abortion Provider Appreciation Day? It’s an opportunity to honor the life of Dr. David Gunn, an abortion provider who was murdered on March 10, 1993, by a white supremacist anti-abortion extremist. March 10 has been observed as 'The National Day of Appreciation for Abortion Providers' since 1996. Since then, countless abortion providers have faced threats and mistreatment despite the essential and necessary compassion-based care they provide. As we prepare for our March 5 training, Abortion Access for People Living with and Affected by HIV, we’re revisiting the importance of a status neutral framework. What’s that? Shortly put its a method of holistic, stigma-free support that promotes person-first care, access to services regardless of HIV status, multiple entry points to care, and proactive community partnerships. #ZeroHIVStigma
