Prosper Portland is pleased to welcome several new additions to our staff this month, as well as one staff member who is moving into a new role: Jeff Lamont has been named as Prosper Portland’s new Director of Human Resources, having previously served at the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission and the Oregon State Board of Nursing. ? Angela Rico has joined our policy team as a Government Relations Policy Analyst and will support the work of both Prosper Portland and the Community and Economic Development Service Area under Deputy City Administrator Donnie Oliveira. Angela was most recently a Senior Policy Advisor to Commissioner Carmen Rubio. ? Senior Business Finance Officer Amori Rix is the newest addition to our Business Lending Team. Amori was previously a Commercial Underwriter at Craft3. ? Clean Energy Project Manager Matt Faunt will manage the Small Commercial Energy Efficiency Grant program at Prosper Portland, a new initiative funded by the Portland Clean Energy Fund. Matt joins Prosper Portland after many years at NAYA Family Center. Faythe Aiken has joined Prosper Portland’s Business Advancement Team as Project Manager of Economic Incentives & Partnerships, supporting Enterprise Zone (E-Zone) and the Oregon Manufacturing Extension Program (OMEP). Faythe has been at Prosper Portland since 2019, previously working as an Outcomes Analyst on the policy team.?

Portland City Council voted today to approve the establishment of six new Tax Increment Finance (TIF) districts that will spur economic growth, create jobs, and invest in a range of affordable housing options in both the central city and East Portland over the next 30 years. The newly approved Central City districts will ensure a vibrant, active downtown and economic hub for our state?and include two TIF districts on the east bank of the Willamette River and one in Portland’s downtown and Old Town.?The three East Portland districts (82nd Avenue Area, East 205, and Sumner-Parkrose-Argay-Columbia Corridor) will address the urgent need to stabilize existing businesses and residents and to ensure inclusive economic growth for current and future generations. The implementation of the new TIF districts will start in 2025 with the formation of advisory groups and the development of action plans for each district. Prosper Portland is pleased to welcome two new additions to our staff this week: Andrew Fitzpatrick will serve as Prosper Portland’s interim economic development director. Andrew previously served as director of economic development in the office of Mayor Ted Wheeler. Mitch Daugherty has been hired to manage the Office of Small Business at Prosper Portland, which will officially launch in early 2025. Mitch is the cofounder and former director of Built Oregon.
