Journalism in the public interest. And no, we're not shutting up.
关于我们
ProPublica is an independent, nonprofit newsroom that produces investigative journalism with moral force. We dig deep into important issues, shining a light on abuses of power and betrayals of public trust — and we stick with those issues as long as it takes to hold power to account. With a team of more than 75 dedicated journalists, ProPublica covers a range of topics including government and politics, business, criminal justice, the environment, education, health care, immigration, and technology. We focus on stories with the potential to spur real-world impact. Among other positive changes, our reporting has contributed to the passage of new laws; reversals of harmful policies and practices; and accountability for leaders at local, state and national levels. Investigative journalism requires a great deal of time and resources, and many newsrooms can no longer afford to take on this kind of deep-dive reporting. As a nonprofit, ProPublica’s work is powered primarily through donations. The vast bulk of the money we spend goes directly into world-class, award-winning journalism. We are committed to uncovering the truth, no matter how long it takes or how much it costs, and we practice transparent financial reporting so donors know how their dollars are spent. ProPublica was founded in 2007-2008 with the belief that investigative journalism is critical to our democracy. Our staff remains dedicated to carrying forward the important work of exposing corruption, informing the public about complex issues, and using the power of investigative journalism to spur reform.

Asked if mass deportations would do harm to the agricultural industry in Florida, Rick Roth responded with confidence that Trump would not actually engage in an indiscriminate mass deportation program. But even if that did happen, he said, there will always be a supply of H-2A workers waiting. “We'll figure it out,” he said. “We'll get more.” Read the full investigation: https://propub.li/3UQmyFN

Interested in becoming a visual storyteller? Sarahbeth Maney is a visual fellow at ProPublica documenting the lives of people in our stories through photography. Here are her tips — through the lens of her photojournalism work in Flint, Michigan ?? 1. Ask “Why Does This Story Need to be Told?” For ProPublica’s reporting on Flint’s water crisis, Sarahbeth and reporter Anna Clark went into the project knowing that Flint was not just a news story but a complex place full of real people being denied adequate resources. She wanted the public to know that generations of Flint residents still live with physical and psychological challenges. 2. Be Sincere With Your Approach Before lifting her camera to make any photos, Sarahbeth listened to Flint residents and learned about their stories, then let what they said naturally guide the photos she made. She also made sure sources were aware of how the story would be framed, how they would be portrayed and how they would be quoted. 3. Look for Connection and Insight Through working in Flint, Sarahbeth learned about local programs and how communities generate empathy, advocacy and support for one another during hard times. She says: “My job is to make photographs, but a big part of the fulfillment I get is from making connections.” ?? Read more: https://propub.li/4fvYmkj
