My thanks to Dr. Isabella Cunningham for having me speak at her The University of Texas at Austin internship class last night (and to these impressive students who came up afterward to introduce themselves). Several questions I got were about how to make the most of a remote internship, which I admitted to the students is a tricky thing. At Proof Advertising, two things that have been helpful for long distance mentoring are regular check ins that aren't about presenting work, just about taking the temperature of the week. And second, including interns on projects they aren't assigned to so they can see how other creatives present work, receive feedback, push the work from one meeting to the next, etc.
