Today PFS kicked off our annual event celebrating a decade of impact in federal healthcare. Our mission remains crystal clear:?championing solutions that transform Veterans' lives. Our CEO, Greg Smallwood, laid out the?'Always Forward'?mindset that defines PFS and drove our day forward. He laid out an inspiring vision for PFS's future – “A decade of service has forged trusted partnerships, sparked impactful solutions, and proven our resilience. Through relationships built on excellence and forward-thinking approaches, we've evolved alongside our federal partners to better serve Veterans. As healthcare transformation accelerates, we're ready to lead with solutions that make a tangible difference in Veterans' lives.” Navy Veteran Kim Mitchell captivated us with powerful stories of resilience and belonging that spoke to the heart of our mission. Her message was powerful: when we stay grounded in our purpose and connected to each other, we find strength to overcome any challenge. The VETSmile program, authorized as a pilot program under the MISSION Act, has delivered over 31,000 dental procedures to Veterans in need. Yesterday our local DMV staff gathered for a Friendsgiving lunch followed by our regular monthly hybrid staff meeting. We took time to pause, to be grateful for one another and the important work we do each day, and to enjoy a delicious meal together. Last weekend, the WASHINGTON DC VAMC hosted its annual Winterhaven Homeless Veterans Stand Down event, where VA health and benefits services, federal agencies, local government offices, Veteran Service Organizations and community partners came together. Unsheltered and at-risk Veterans in the DC/VA/MD areas had a chance to access health care services such as dental checks, toxic exposure screenings, flu shots, and general health screenings. They were offered support and information around employment, housing assistance, and benefits. They were provided warm meals, boots, and warm clothing.? ? We were honored to be a part of it. We worked with Access Housing, Inc (DC), US PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES, and other organizations to collect, organize, and distribute hundreds of boots. In total, there were more than 800 pairs of boots to distribute! Those that were not distributed this weekend will make their way to other Veterans who need them.
