We are coming up on our 5th Anniversary serving Herbruck's Poultry Ranch. They have been a fantastic partner and have achieved some notable results with their clinic!

Lots of employers tackle OSHA requirements all at once on an annual schedule. Turnover often leads to requirements getting missed for a year or more. Health clinics are great tools to relieve HR and Safety managers from burdensome requirements of OSHA. They also allow for baseline hearing screening, vision screening, silica testing, etc. during preemployment. This allows for faster, less burdensome onboarding and creates continuity for their regulatory requirements.

I am excited to have annual reviews with the ProMedico Team this week. In the past this is something that I found challenging, overwhelming, and stressful. After some training and experience I really enjoy getting feedback from our team members, reinforcing core values, learning about their professional development plans and supporting them in their clinics. I feel #blessed to have such an outstanding team taking care of our patients.

As a Chief Operating Officer, it can be challenging to pick a health plan that meets all of our employees needs. Increasing costs, changes in our employee demographics, health system changes, and ancillary services all come into play. Since I started in 2021, we have absorbed more of the costs, offered free laboratory services and stayed with a plan that offers care from the best providers (according to the plan) to the employees enrolled. However, it still doesn't seem like it is enough. Our costs have increased alongside our employees. Comparable alternatives come with comparable cost increases, along with forcing employees to change where they receive care, not to mention, changing their PCP. I have seen other organizations claim reductions in healthcare costs, but only after reducing the number of employees on the plan. This is typically the result of actions that are less than beneficial to the employees. After reviewing the alternatives with our broker, the only ethical solution I can see to the problem is growth. Larger organizations have options to spread their risk over their population, stabilize increases and tailor benefits by leveraging tools like customized self-funded health plans, finding a good stop loss partner, partnering with a well thought out PBM and yes, an onsite health clinic. #healthcare #selffunding #healthcaretransparency #sales #employeebenefits

Communicating employee benefits can be challenging, but it's crucial to ensure that no one falls through the cracks. It's disheartening to see employees paying out of pocket for emergency and urgent care services that could have been handled at our clinics or by our on-call clinicians. At ProMedico Health, we use a range of tools, including Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (MiHIN) MIGATEWAY and claims data from the employer, to identify frequent fliers and help lower costs for both employees and their organizations. Hopefully these types of lawsuits help create more transparency into healthcare costs for employers and employees so they know they are getting the best value. Self-funding, having an onsite clinic, and reviewing claims and clinic data regularly is a great start to controlling costs and ensuring that an organization is doing its fiduciary due diligence.
