Simplify Kubernetes Add-ons and Applications Management for a Fleet of Clusters

关于我们

Kubernetes add-on controller that simplifies the deployment and management of Kubernetes add-ons and applications across multiple clusters. It runs in a management cluster and can programmatically deploy and manage add-ons and applications on any cluster in the fleet, including the management cluster itself. ? Projectsveltos supports a variety of add-on formats, including Helm charts, raw YAML/JSON, Kustomize, Carvel ytt, and Jsonnet. It allows you to represent add-ons and applications as templates, which are then instantiated before deployment to managed clusters.

Thanks Artem Lajko ?? ? for for writing this comprehensive guide to building an event-driven Internal Developer Platform (IDP) using Sveltos, Kubernetes, and CloudNative-PG.?Great to see that we can ourselves build a self-service, event-driven platform similar to cloud provider database services, but built on Kubernetes and open-source tools. ??

Happy Monday everyone. We’re excited to share two powerful updates in the 0.51.1 Release: ? The Sveltos dashboard now provides readiness and liveness status, giving you a clearer picture of your cluster’s health at a glance. ?? Sveltos can now source HelmCharts directly from Flux sources! Simply use this format: <flux source kind>://<flux source namespace>/<flux source name>/<path> Example: gitrepository://flux-system/flux-system/charts/projectsveltos Try it out and let us know what you think! Spent a good portion of my weekend testing and prepping a new Sveltos release! ?? It contains bug fixes, dashboard improvements, and enhanced Flux/Sveltos integration. I've created a video showcasing the Sveltos dashboard managing Kubernetes clusters across diverse environments like Civo, GKE, EKS, and on-prem. Maintaining Sveltos represents a significant personal commitment ?? so if you value the project, kindly consider giving it a star on GitHub: ???https://lnkd.in/dsFwQkNq For companies using Sveltos, adding your company name to our adopters list would be greatly appreciated ??? https://lnkd.in/dMhwDCVi Both actions contribute to showcasing the project's adoption and stability. Thank you for your support! ?? #Kubernetes #DevOps #Automation #MultiCluster

  • Yeah very happy too here at Project Sveltos. With Tigera & Mirantis partnering to enhance k0rdent with Calico, l want to take a minute to explain to the other Sveltos users how k0rdent automates multi-cluster Kubernetes management and how Sveltos plays a key role in streamlining networking and security. ?? What is k0rdent? k0rdent is an open-source platform that standardizes and simplifies Kubernetes deployment at scale. Built on Cluster API (CAPI), it automates cluster provisioning, lifecycle management, and infrastructure orchestration across cloud, bare metal, and virtualized environments. ?? How Does It Work? ? Cluster Definition – Uses templates to create standardized Kubernetes environments. ? Cluster Management – Automates provisioning and scaling via KCM & CAPI controllers. ? State Management – This is where Sveltos plays a critical role! Sveltos: Enables Calico Deployment & Policy Management ?? Automates the deployment and configuration of Calico as the CNI (Container Network Interface) for Kubernetes clusters provisioned by k0rdent. ?? Enables network policies to be defined and enforced from the k0rdent control plane, ensuring consistent security across all clusters. ?? Ensures that networking, security, and other add-ons remain compliant and up-to-date across the entire cluster fleet. With Calico now integrated into k0rdent, users benefit from automated networking and security enforcement at scale all while maintaining a declarative, policy-driven approach powered by Sveltos. ?? Kubernetes needs automation at scale, and k0rdent + Sveltos + Calico is making it happen. Check the comment below for the architecture diagram. #Kubernetes #k0rdent #CloudNative #DevOps #Sveltos #Calico #Automation #Tigera #Mirantis #Networking #K8s #PolicyManagement

  • From 10,000 in a year to 5,000 a month—Sveltos is gaining momentum. ?? It took us a full year to hit 10,000 downloads. Now, we’re adding 5,000 every month. What’s driving this acceleration? ? Declarative Dependency Management – Simplifying Kubernetes complexity with a declarative approach. ? Smarter & More Reliable Deployments – Automating configurations for consistency and resilience. ? Fine-Grained Policy Enforcement – Dynamically applying policies across multiple clusters. ? Real-Time Drift Detection & Remediation – Keeping clusters in their intended state automatically. ? Multi-Cluster Management – Scaling configurations effortlessly across environments. ? Event-Driven Kubernetes Management – Reacting dynamically to changes, ensuring continuous compliance. The need for better Kubernetes management is real—and Sveltos is delivering. We’re just getting started! ?? #Kubernetes #CloudNative #MultiCluster #GitOps

  • 3 Reasons Your Kubernetes Deployments Keep Failing (And How to Fix It) 1?? Wrong Deployment Order: Dependencies aren’t enforced properly 2?? No Health Checks: Services start before they’re ready 3?? Duplicate Deployments: Wasting resources and causing conflicts ?? Solution? ??????

Deploying multi-tiered apps in Kubernetes? ?? You know the drill: ????????????????????????! How do you guarantee everything deploys correctly and in the right order? ?? I wrote about how that can be declaratively achieved with Sveltos, simply settings ?????????????????? field and how to include ???????????? ???????????? to guarantee each component is fully operational before moving on. I also cover how Sveltos handles complex dependency chains, performs automatic de-duplication and uses ref-counting to guarantee a dependency remains deployed as long as at least one application needs it If you are interested and want to read more about it here is the link: https://lnkd.in/dvw4g5mH

?? Sveltos v0.50.0 – A Special Milestone Release! ?? We haven’t posted about all our latest releases, but since this is our 50th release, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate and highlight some key features—not just from this version, but also from recent updates we hadn’t shared on LinkedIn before! ?? Want to stay updated on every release? Follow us on X https://lnkd.in/gSi38r85 or check out our announcement page: https://lnkd.in/g-e_nxvw ? Profiles can now manage dependencies automatically Define a DependsOn field, and Sveltos automatically resolves and deploys prerequisite profiles. No more manual coordination. ? Cluster management visibility is improved Sveltos-agent and drift-detection-manager pods are now labeled with cluster name and namespace, so you can identify them instantly. ? CAPI clusters can be onboarded selectively Deploying Sveltos on a large management cluster? Use an annotation-based mechanism to gradually onboard clusters, preventing unnecessary load. ? Debugging is now easier with the Tech Support CRD A single command collects all necessary diagnostic data from both management and managed clusters on-demand or on a schedule. #Kubernetes #CloudNative #GitOps #K8s #OpenSource #DevOps
