This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, graduates, trainers, and community partners who help us keep building Baltimore — one career at a time. With this grant, we’ll continue to equip Baltimore residents with hands-on training and job readiness in electrical, plumbing, and carpentry. ?? Yesterday, while live on TV... Project JumpStart was awarded the prestigious Neighborhood Builders grant from Bank of America! ?? With this incredible $200,000 grant over two years, we’ll expand our free, 15-week construction training program, helping Baltimore City residents build skills and careers in trades like electrical, plumbing, and carpentry. This funding is paired with valuable leadership training for our team, enabling us to grow our impact with a focus on financial sustainability, strategic storytelling, and community engagement. Since 2006, Project JumpStart has prepared hundreds of individuals for the workforce, with over 80% of our graduates securing jobs that lead to long-term careers and apprenticeships. Thanks to Bank of America’s support, we can continue making a difference in Baltimore’s economy and provide a pathway to economic mobility for our community. ?? What does it take to transform raw talent into skilled professionals? At the Henderson Crossing and Biddle Street job sites, we’re witnessing it firsthand through our partnership with Cross Street Partners. ?? Over the last 12 months, 4 trainees (from Classes 72-75) have graduated from our pilot program, with 2 currently gaining hands-on experience in every aspect of single-family housing construction. From staircases to framing bathrooms and completing masonry tasks, our trainees are learning valuable skills on active job sites. Their dedication and growth have been nothing short of inspiring. These individuals show up every day ready to build their future — despite any challenges life has thrown their way. We’re honored to be a part of this journey and to support these rising stars in their careers! ?? We’re proud to congratulate our 75th graduating cohort! This marks our third successful class in partnership with the Greater Baltimore Urban League. With a 95% graduation rate—our highest yet—this group of 22 trainees worked hard over 15 weeks to master entry-level carpentry, electrical, plumbing skills, and more. ?? Special thanks to the Johns Hopkins Hospital Health System for providing the space for this incredible milestone, and to GBUL for their continued partnership in empowering Baltimore’s workforce! Class 75 highlights include: - 4 female graduates - 3 young adults aged 18-24 - 14 participants passed the construction math test (64%) ...and that overwhelming 95% graduation rate! ?? Last week, we graduated PJSI Class 74 -- and it was one for the books! ?? This class graduated: ?? 20/22 students! The most we've ever had complete the program! ??♀? 5 women!! ?? 11 students between the ages of 18-24 ? 7 students with perfect attendance ?? 3 students with perfect math assessment scores Wishing much success to this incredible group of people! We can't wait to see what other records you go on to break!
