Joanna McCue-Martin, McKinney-Vento liaison in Warren County Public Schools, has partnered with the Hike Kidz Foundation to support students in need. Together, they hosted a community event to assemble hygiene and art supply totes for The Nourished Nest, a resource room providing essential supplies like hygiene items and shelf-stable food for students experiencing homelessness. The Hike Kids Foundation has also supported the Glass Slipper room, organized by Joanna and her team, which offers formal wear to students in need. Joanna is also working on a back-to-school shopping trip for these students. Earlier this month, Project HOPE-Virginia hosted its annual state conference in Harrisonburg, bringing together McKinney-Vento liaisons, school staff, and state and community partners. Over three days, attendees deepened their knowledge and skills to better support students experiencing homelessness—ensuring they have the resources and opportunities to thrive in school and beyond.
