Thank you to the Community Foundation of New Jersey for their support of our Pedal Farmers summer employment and leadership program, dating back more than 10 years. Because of that support, we've been able to work with more than 500 youth participants from all of the City of Newark, allowing many of them to have their first job experience, learn about community gardening, and develop skills that will help with with future business, financial, and entrepreneurship goals. Our work to build and sustain this amazing program would not have been possible without their support and investment in the potential of our Pedal Farmer students!

When Project U.S.E. started taking people into the outdoor classroom in 1970 we had little idea of the breadth and scope our programs would span decades later. As a nonprofit educational organization we provide acclaimed experiential learning opportunities to more than 7,000 young people and adults each year. Specializing in the out-of-the-ordinary, our tools and tactics support academic learning and promote self-respect, strong character and social and environmental consciousness. In their entirety our services focus on three main areas: Experiential Education, Job Readiness + Life Skills, and Professional Development. We offer adventure-based wilderness expeditions, employment skills training, curriculum-based school programs, and consulting services to educators, trainers, and managers. Our workshop locations range from natural environments to city streets to waterways to school buildings to boardrooms.

As part of our Giving Tuesday gratitude series, we'd like to thank the Victoria Foundation for their ongoing support of our work to empower Newark youth through outdoor and experiential education and leadership development programming! Thanks to their support and assistance in building partnerships with other nonprofits and grantees, we've been able to renew and reimagine our outdoor programs over the past few years to meet the needs of the students, families, and communities we serve. We look forward to continuing this important work centered around youth empowerment and increasing access to outdoor programming for more students in Newark in 2025 and beyond!

We'd like to thank the Victoria Foundation for their amazing convening this past Saturday at the Newark Future Forum. It was an amazing day filled with networking, opportunities for collaboration, and incredible panels and speakers, including an thought-provoking keynote address from Majora Carter. We feel energized and excited about future possibilities in the City of Newark and the energy and enthusiasm from attendees was a great testament to the Foundation's 100-year commitment to the city and their vision of the possibilities yet to come!
