We're incredibly thankful to Deputy Amber Sprague and San Diego County Sheriff's Office for all of their work in serving North County San Diego's unhoused population! She and her team have done a fantastic job identifying groups at encampments and transit stations that greatly benefit from the care PSV and local social services provide. Over the past 2 years, they've helped secure housing for pet parents and coordinate veterinary services to over 100 pets. "It's been a great way to reach the community, build relationships, and then get the dogs their vaccines, flea and tick medication, food, toys and treats," says Deputy Sprague.?"We get out on foot, we go talk to people...?probably know them on a first name basis, which is special, not every law enforcement agency has a relationship like that with the people out on the streets." https://lnkd.in/gqM696fV

Our recent street vet clinic in Orlando allowed us to connect with nearly 30 pets, including this super cute pup whose cleft palate was thankfully healing on its own. Huge shout out to team Orlando for hosting this recent event! #pets #pups #Orlando #nojudgementjusthelp https://lnkd.in/gB74qwVb
Project Street Vet on Instagram: "“You’re just extra cute” ???? At our free street vet clinic in Orlando we saw nearly 30 pets including these two pups. One had a cleft palate that fortunately was healing on its own. Dog and cat cleft palates are conditions that result from the failure of the roof of the mouth (hard and soft palates) closing during normal embryological development - leaving a “cle

Los Angeles resident, volunteer, rescuer and spay/neuter advocate Tammy is on a mission to reduce the number of pet litters in her community. Since late 2023, she has been working directly with Project Street Vet and other community partners to bring needed veterinary services to unhoused pet families near her home, all on her personal time. In her experience, the pet families she assists are willing to get their animals spayed and neutered, but access to quick, affordable appointments isn’t always achievable. Tammy had been working to get nine dogs at one community camp fixed, but was having a hard time finding somewhere to treat them all, quickly - before some of the pups got big enough to make new litters of their own. See how PSV teamed with her and others in her community to help get 9 dogs spayed and neutered in the YouTube link below! https://lnkd.in/g-gdmWar

Queue the confetti! We’re taking Project Street Vet on the road. Thanks to sponsorship from Fetch Pet Insurance and support from local veterinarian volunteers, we’re bringing vital veterinary care, vaccines, supplies and food to the unhoused and vulnerable pet population. This multi-city tour launched in Orlando, FL last week and will also make stops in Los Angeles, Atlanta, San Diego and Riverside, CA through the end of this year. Right now, there are more than 650,000 people experiencing homelessness in the United States, and it is estimated that 10 to 25 percent of them are pet parents. That means over 65,000 cats and dogs have pet parents that love them more than anything – but lack the veterinary care they need. "Bringing judgment-free care to these pets is exactly why I founded Project Street Vet. We’re so excited to spread compassion and care from coast to coast and learn from each other along the way. This work has been truly life-changing for me. I would like to thank our volunteers, including Dr. Kristen Schmidt, Dr. Mary Anne Holls Bowen, Dr. Christian Keen, Dr. Crystal Silveira and so many others for all of their time and care. And huge shout-out to the team on the road Danae Davis, Ian Stewart and Hilary Palotay." - Dr. Kwane Stewart

Today is #SanDiegoGivesDay! ???? San Diego was the city our organization was founded in and is one of the communities we most actively support! Our goal this year is to raise $10,000 to support unhoused pets and their owners. Two of the best ways to support this SD Gives Day are: 1. Help us reach our $10,000 goal by donating at our donation link: https://lnkd.in/g427PJWu 2. Share pet food and supplies with our San Diego team via the following Amazon Wishlist link: https://lnkd.in/gWNSVa-f Thank you to the San Diego community for continuously kindling our dream of providing no cost, judgement free care for the unhoused across America!

Coming off of the tail end of International Dog Day, we're pleased to announce that PSV was 1 of 100 animal welfare organizations chosen to receive a portion of a $1 million grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization! This grant helps us and our industry colleagues save lives and increase the quality of life for dogs like Drafty, an 11-year-old Labrador mix, entering their golden years across America. Grey Muzzle's Executive Director, Lisa Lunghofer, said, “Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we’re delighted to help deserving organizations like Project Street Vet make a positive difference in the lives of dogs and people in their communities... Many senior dogs in the Southern California area and beyond are enjoying their golden years thanks to the lifesaving work of Project Street Vet.” We can't thank The Grey Muzzle Organization enough for their commitment over the past 16 years to helping us and many other groups provide the best care for our four-legged friends as they enter their senior years!

We’re honored to have CNN Heroes as part of our Elevate family—and to have them be such an integral part of our 2024 #MakeGoodFamous Summit. At Summit, we also announced a concept we’ve spent years developing called the Whole Leader. Through Whole Leader, we’re committed to changing the game — helping leaders in the impact space prioritize their own wellbeing and avoid burnout to, in turn, enhance their ability to help others and their communities. As we say: “self care IS community care.” This article and video beautifully captures what the Whole Leader is all about.
