Our team in Nicaragua continues to oversee work on the first school of this multi-community project—a monumental task. In the video, you can see our team, alongside 22 family members, working together to lay the foundation for the new classrooms in La Ponso?ita - look at that teamwork! We are so grateful to the families, our team on the ground, and our supporters! Stay tuned for more updates as we progress on the new multi-community water and school project of La Ponso?a! ??

Ponso?a School Project Update: Last month, we broke ground on the multi-community water, sanitation, and school project in La Ponso?a, Matagalpa. Thanks to the high level of participation from family members volunteers, we’ve also begun repairing and constructing new classrooms in one of the schools in the project, La Ponso?ita. This school, which we’ve visited before, has been a priority due to its deteriorating condition. The student body of 54 children had outgrown the single-classroom facility, and a colony of bats had taken over the ceiling, exposing the children to potential health risks, including respiratory issues. The little lean-to on the side is, sadly, the 'preschool'. With the dedication of our team and the hard work of community volunteers, we’re relieved to report that the old ceiling has been removed, and work has begun on renovating the existing building and adding 2 new classrooms. By early 2025, these students will have a beautiful and safe school to learn in! ???? Check out the before and after photos of the construction below!

It is so exciting to break ground on this project. Follow Project Schoolhouse to join the journey!
Dear amigos, we have big, big, big news! ???? For years, our local Project Schoolhouse team has known of a water source big enough to provide clean water to 7 communities at once. Our team has the expertise, and only funding was needed to build a project of this scale. Thanks to the efforts of our team in Nicaragua and our dedicated US-based team, we were able to secure the necessary funding to kickstart Phase I of this project. Our team has been eagerly coordinating the complex logistics of mobilizing 7 communities to work together, as they will volunteer their time and huge effort to bring this project to fruition. Through these photos, we introduce you to the water, sanitation and school project of the Ponso?a region. Pictured is a community member meeting, the initial scouting of the region and the spring, community members working together to collect boulders by hand to build the filtration system, and carrying in project equipment. This project will provide access to clean water, sanitary latrines, and safe, functional schoolhouses to all seven communities. We are immensely proud of our dedicated team and eagerly look forward to sharing the journey of this project with you.
