We are less than 3 months away from our Fannie Lou Hamer Legacy Celebration! Fannie Lou Hamer is a civil rights icon who made a tremendous impact in the fight for equality and social justice. The event will bring together community leaders and supporters to celebrate her contributions and further our mission. We are seeking sponsors to help us make this event a success and reach our goal of raising $50,000. Your support would greatly contribute to our new Community Grocery store. We have various sponsorship levels with great benefits and visibility, and we would be happy to discuss a partnership that aligns with your interests. If interested in learning more about how you or your organization can support us please do not hesitate to reach out!

On National Farmers Market week Project New Village was featured on the KPBS Midday Edition podcast! Excellent reporting by Jade Hindmon, Elaine Alfaro and team that explores the evolution of local farmers markets and the impact they have on our foodscape. Project New Village was featured to give insight on how farmers markets are evolving to accommodate food scarce regions and make local produce accessible to all community members. This episode which aired on Tuesday, August 6th was insightful and informative, and very much worth the listen for anyone wishing to understand the meaning and impacts of food apartheid and how resilient communities can move towards food sovereignty.

?? We’re proud to announce our new monthly podcast series PROJECT: Good Food, a podcast about community liberation through food access, food sovereignty, and the relationship we have with the environment. Hosted by Anthony Avalos and co-host N. Diane Moss, our first episode is a special one - we look at the history of Project New Village and the impact and legacy of Robert Tambuzi, an activist and community leader who helped shape the vision and principles of Project New Village. August 10th marked what would have been his 71st birthday, so we’re very happy to release this episode as a tribute to his legacy. We were joined in this episode by special guests Kamaal Martin and Eric Henson, who both shared a close connection with Tambuzi as well as PNV. To listen, visit the PROJECT: Good Food link (https://lnkd.in/gxyrg8Xu), or stream on your podcast platform of choice.
