??This month is #WomensHistoryMonth! ??Did you know that we are a women-led organization? Our beloved Executive Director Dawn Ewing and Chief Program Officer Deb C. Jones lead the charge in empowering our youth daily! ??Did you know that we offer a female-empowerment program? Carol’s Circle, named after Carol Kestenbaum, plays a critical role in providing the safety, mentoring and encouragement that female-identifying students need to address and overcome traditional gender stereotypes and expectations. ??In small group activities, our female-identifying students have an opportunity to share their experiences through discussion, projects and games that explore issues of self-worth, including stress management, peer pressure, body image and the impact of negative messages on girls and young women. ??We are proud to celebrate women and their impact on and in our organization today, and every day. ??February may not have a 30th, but our 30th celebration continues! ??We are thrilled to spotlight Teresa C. Younger! ??Teresa is a major part of our history, serving as our first Executive Director! ??Teresa is an activist, advocate, renowned public-speaker, organizational strategist, and a proven leader in the philanthropic and policy sectors. Having spent over 20 years on the frontlines of some of the most critical battles for comprehensive equity and the elimination of institutionalized oppression, she now serves as the President and CEO of the Ms. Foundation for Women. ??Words from when Teresa was honored with the 2021 Morry Award: “‘The way to right wrongs is to turn the light of truth upon them.’ -Ida B.
