PLTW creates an engaging classroom environment unlike any other, empowering students with real-world experience.
关于我们
PLTW is an organization focused on empowering students and transforming the teaching experience – a proud tradition from the start of the organization that continues today. Since 1997, we have grown from a high school engineering program to offering comprehensive PreK-12 pathways in computer science, engineering, and biomedical science. PLTW’s world-class, activity-, project-, and problem-based curriculum gives students a chance to apply what they know, identify problems, find unique solutions, and lead their own learning, rather than be passive recipients of information in a question-and-answer, right-or-wrong learning environment. In addition to our innovative curriculum, one of the most unique aspects of our programs is the engaging, rigorous professional development for teachers. We offer five programs of study: PLTW Launch (grades PreK-5), PLTW Gateway (middle school), PLTW Biomedical Science (high school), PLTW Computer Science (high school), and PLTW Engineering (high school). PLTW has 14,000 programs in 11,500 schools, serving millions of students and training over 55,000 teachers.

?? Want to see your Spanish-speaking students shine? ?? Maybe you're searching for resources to enhance your dual language immersion programming? When your STEM curriculum is available in Spanish, ALL students get to explore and connect with their world in a whole new way. Try "Rosie's Runtime", a fun, computational thinking activity that gets students out of their seats, working together, and into a coding mindset! https://bit.ly/4eZKo9N

It’s been just over a week since we hosted PLTW Summit 2024 and I want to just share a couple of highlights. 1. Incredible Team: I'm so grateful for my amazing team of women who dedicated a year to planning this spectacular event. Their attention to detail ensured that every attendee felt special and valued. Laurie Anderson, Leah Singleton Fletcher, Katie Shrack, Taylor Leonard and Zoe Morales. 2. Exceptional Vendor Partners: We collaborated with outstanding vendors who truly embraced our values and were committed to caring for our teachers. Their partnership made a significant difference. Markey's, San Diego Convention Center Corporation, Manchester Grand Hyatt, Terramar, a DMC Network Company, Cvent, EVA, Your Image Works Inc 3. Inspiring Educators: The passion and dedication of our teachers and administrators were nothing short of inspiring. Hearing their stories over the three days filled me with gratitude. I’m already looking forward to our next event and continuing to create the best experiences for our educators!

Years ago, we hosted an education conference at the school district where I served. I still remember our keynote speaker, David Warlick, and his opening ideas. He talked about sharing 1 new thing he learned each and every day. This "newsletter" will be a place where I highlight 3 things I learned this week, or recently. More than anything, it's a way for me to hold myself accountable for continued learning. Some topics will have a regular presence, like AI. I'm focused on learning as much as possible about AI right now. But I'm sure there will be other topics along the way. As I learn, I'll make adjustments and, hopefully, improvements to the newsletter. Maybe there will be something interesting in here for you... (first edition coming Monday, October 14) #learning #continuousimprovement #curiosity

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). This month we celebrate the contributions to our workplaces by those with disabilities and recommit to recognizing the issues that workers with disabilities face, while working together to eliminate those issues. #NDEAM #Diversity #Inclusion?

6th Grade Science Teacher PLTW Coach at Elkhorn Area School District 2024 Herb Kohl Fellowship Award Winner
What do you do with an idea? If you're running an afterschool Storybook STEM club for 4th and 5th graders, you... 1. Read and discuss the book by Kobi Yamada 2. Create 3D names, using criteria and constraints, with Lego bricks and plates. 3. You sketch 3D letters to practice sketching. 4. You create your first Tinkercad account to create a name keychain from your prototype. 5. You help print 3D creations. 6. You then have inadvertently introduced students to many of the skills we use in our #PLTW Classrooms, as well as 3D printing! #StorybookSTEM #AfterschoolProgramming
