I'm reflecting on the wonderful NAEHCY, National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth conference in Orlando this past week. Everything was incredible: from Jennifer Friend Project Hope Alliance as our keynote, to conducting a workshop on partnering with community agencies, and of course connecting with Barbara Duffield from SchoolHouse Connection to talk through advocacy efforts and meeting my new bestie Roy Juarez, Jr. Truly grateful I get to be in this role and talk to people who share the mission to end generational homelessness. #teamkid #endgenerationalhomelessness #educationmatters The true bright spot of this trip was of course visiting Harry Potter World- this Ravenclaw is fulfilled and grateful to be able to spend time wondering Hogwarts and Diagon Alley ?? ?

Yesterday I had the honor of presenting the keynote at the National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth (NAEHCY) conference in Orlando. Having the opportunity to share my personal story as a small example of what is possible because of the empathy, love, kindness, skill and work of everyone in that ballroom was very meaningful. I am so proud to be a part of this national movement to make anything possible for our kids experiencing homelessness and the work of Project Hope Alliance??

Congratulations to our board member, Dr. Dawn Bounds, associate professor of nursing at UCI School of Nursing for receiving a 5-year $3.5 million grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse to study the effectiveness of GRIT, a prevention program designed to help adversity-impacted youth develop healthy coping and stress management skills. Since joining our board, Dr. Bounds has provided research-based guidance to help shape our model of care to improve life outcomes for students experiencing homelessness. Last year, Dr. Bounds helped Project Hope Alliance launch our Youth Advisory Council to incorporate and amplify youth voice into our work. ? This week we are introducing our Partnership Manager, Celso Fuentes! Celso primarily works with the schools PHA partners with to make sure that the services we offer to students is aligned with their goals.
