???? We're wishing you all a happy Thanksgiving! This holiday is all about gratitude, the joy of giving, and gathering with loved ones. Our CEO Erin McAleer shares a Thanksgiving story from her childhood. 20% of families in Massachusetts are food insecure. No one should struggle with affording food during the holidays or any time of the year. Thanks to your support, we're making strides to create a Massachusetts where everyone can access the food they need to thrive. https://lnkd.in/gNf5ekTh
关于我们
Too many people across Massachusetts are worried about affording enough food. Project Bread works statewide to connect people and communities to programs that meet nutritional needs and alleviate household budgets. Our advocacy is driven by the real-time challenges of people experiencing food insecurity, so we can permanently break the cycle of hunger. - Provide immediate relief to those who are hungry today - Eradicate the systemic causes of hunger From community-based meal programs, to early childhood and school nutrition initiatives, to improved access to farm-to-table and local food resources, we approach hunger as a complex problem with multiple solutions that often work best in combination, and through cooperation and collaboration between communities and organizations.

This Thanksgiving, we’re grateful for school nutrition professionals and the critical work they do to feed kids. During a workshop Project Bread led at Thompson Elementary School in Arlington earlier this month, local school nutrition staff formed teams to put their creative spins on chicken salad, learning how to elevate a classic recipe. Photo 1: Ryan Eckles, chef educator at Project Bread, looks on as each team shares their chicken salad recipe. Photo 2: Mimoza A., a cafeteria helper, has been steadily working the same job for 8 years, saying that she enjoys cooking and helping kids by feeding them nutritious, fulfilling, and flavorful meals. Photo 3: A beautifully plated chicken salad recipe. It’s critical to feed kids in schools to give them the energy they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom. We cannot do our work in schools without your support. By donating, you help create a brighter future for kids by providing them with the nourishment they need. Donate: https://lnkd.in/gNf5ekTh

What do Kelly Russell and Paula Tobón have in common? They are both moms who leveraged their lived experience with food insecurity to shape effective solutions to hunger. Through Project Bread’s Council of Experts program, Kelly and Paula reached out to communities, improved The Walk for Hunger, shared their stories and perspectives, and more. “We have these images that we're fed that make us feel like the only people who might be food insecure are people who are just downtrodden and just look like life is hard, and that's not true,” Kelly said. Read more about their journey, how they're breaking down the stigma against food insecurity, and what we're doing to include voices from advocates like Kelly and Paula in the fight against hunger in Massachusetts. https://lnkd.in/eMTrbbkT

Together, we can end food insecurity in Massachusetts. Project Bread CEO Erin McAleer spoke with GBH about the work we're doing to push for systemic change to solve hunger. "This is a systemic issue and not an individual failing,” McAleer said. “As people are thinking through this issue, certainly we need those immediate solutions. But we also need to commit ourselves to the long-term solutions.” https://lnkd.in/eeiR_39i

Meet Xhijola Ndoci, a school nutrition staff worker who has worked at Dallin Elementary School in Arlington for five years. “When we see the kids happy and they run after the food, that's the pleasure of the day,” she said. During a workshop Project Bread led at Thompson Elementary School in Arlington last week, local school nutrition staff formed teams to put their creative spins on chicken salad, learning how to make recipes that kids love, giving them the energy they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom. Xhijola’s team came up with the “Boston Harbor Chicken Salad,” a flavorful recipe with onions and paprika, served with pita bread. Yesterday also marked the four-year anniversary of Project Bread announcing the Feed Kids Coalition. We launched the coalition to solve childhood hunger, starting in schools, since schools are a critical access point for feeding kids. Now, we can see the success — School Meals for All is permanent in Massachusetts, resulting in 100,000 more kids eating school lunch daily. Help us continue our important work with a gift! https://lnkd.in/enC-gvhW
