SAMU's Emergency Response in Utiel, Valencia Last week, SAMU dispatched a team of 11 specialized volunteers in #EmergencyHealthcare and #CivilProtection to #Utiel, Valencia, in response to the worst DANA of the century. With over 90 lives lost, the mission was critical in providing much-needed support to the flood-stricken community. After four intense days of door-to-door medical assistance, emergency coordination, and civil protection efforts, the team has returned to Sevilla. The withdrawal followed the military’s order to take control of the crisis. Upon arrival at @escuela_samu, the volunteers were warmly welcomed by their families and SAMU leadership. This mission has left an indelible mark on both the volunteers and the grateful residents of Utiel. The community's strength and gratitude deeply move SAMU's Team. SAMU stands ready to re-engage if further assistance is needed in the ongoing crisis. The town of Utiel, home to 11,000 residents, woke up to devastation. The overflowing Magro River caused immense damage—destroyed bridges, torn-up roads, and severely impacted neighborhoods.
