Project ANAR is a grassroots Afghan community immigration organization focused on legal services, education and advocacy

关于我们

We envision a world in which Afghans, and all people, can move freely, without the barriers imposed on them by the systems that displaced them to begin with. We envision an Afghan community in the U.S. that is empowered to engage in individual and collective immigration advocacy. Our goals include obtaining permanent status and family reunification for Afghans in the United States, and establishing pathways to refuge for those outside of the U.S. Our work includes direct legal services, particularly asylum services, for Afghans in the Bay Area, California. We work in coalition with Afghan community organizations, immigration and resettlement organizations, law schools, and others, to meet our community’s needs and advocate for them on local, state, and national levels.

It should be the ultimate goal of every nonprofit to become obsolete. But as long as there is still work to be done, you want the very best team on the job. ?????????? Last month, our team was in San Diego and Tijuana on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border. While we’ve been working with many asylum seekers detained in San Diego for the last two years, this was the first time that we were able to visit as a larger group (still with some missing!) We met with many detained Afghan asylum seekers and attended court with some of our detained clients. We also gathered donations and assembled meal bags to assist local organizations that have been spearheading efforts to support non-citizens on both sides of the border facing ever-changing challenges as a result of U.S. immigration policies that limit access to asylum, including @alotrolado_org @haitianbridge @panasandiego @weallwegotsd You don’t have to go to the border to bear witness to the cruelty anti-immigrant policies and border militarization impose on all of our communities—you can support these organizations as well as ANAR from near or far, and find ways to support local mutual aid efforts in your own communities! Please stay tuned for more resources and updates in the coming weeks ????????
