"I used to feel embarrassed to read aloud. Then, after help from my teacher, I was able to read a story for my entire classroom. That day I lost my fear and now I read with confidence." Read the story of how support from an Alianza Community Educator helped Jaritza learn to read, get back on track to graduate, and become an avid reader.

We disrupt generational poverty by training local women as educators to aid low-resource schools in Central America.

At Project Alianza, we work to ensure children at risk for child labor in rural coffee villages have access to a safe, high-quality education. The Alianza approach fills the education gap in rural coffee communities by providing quality, comprehensive education on-site at large coffee estates where prevalence of child labor and inaccessibility to school are highest.

According to the World Bank, more than half of students in Latin America will complete primary school without knowing how to read. Over the last 10 years, our team has worked to change that. We've worked against all odds to ensure children in rural Central America have access to learning and literacy, because education matters.

What happens when education meets determination? Meet Jogeyling and Judeyling, two sisters who just became the first high school graduates in their family! Jogeyling and Judeyling’s story?with Project Alianza began in 2018 when they joined our literacy program, but their dreams of continuing to secondary school faced a challenge - their family’s limited resources. That’s where our scholarships came in, providing the support they needed to keep going. Over five years, the sisters balanced their studies, family responsibilities, and community involvement with grace and resilience. Today, these sisters are living proof that education transforms lives. As the first graduates in their family, they’re setting an inspiring example for their six younger siblings and their entire community.
