Ground in ways to alchemize your fear into courageous leadership and cultivate community and connection as we navigate these uncertain times. This #BlackFuturesMonth, we look to the wisdom of Audre Lorde, who shared, "When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.” In our February #InsideProInspire newsletter, we discuss: - Curated resources to activate courage in your leadership - Where thriving leadership persists in our community - How we're responding in these uncertain times ?? We're gaining deep insights from our Fellowship program that's transforming how Black women and femme environmental and justice leaders approach wellbeing. Our partner ProInspire shares more in their latest blog: ?? Many leaders initially believed "their worth was tied to productivity" and saw rest as something to be "earned" rather than essential. How might we break out of this mindset? ?? Through community practice, flexible support, and creating identity beyond work, fellows are unlearning guilt around rest. This is the first step! And a daily practice. ?? Our emerging lessons show that boundaries, community connection, and experiential learning help transform rest from an ideal to an embodied practice. As one fellow powerfully articulated: "Unlearning guilt around rest and receiving support without justification" has been transformative. How might you incorporate rest as a leadership strategy in your own work? Which of these insights resonates most with you? #SustainableImpact #WellnessAtWork #NonprofitLeadership https://lnkd.in/eqcs9xFZ

This Valentine's Day, we offer these reflection questions to help ground #socialsector leaders, organizations, and their communities in the ways they can and are cultivating thriving in their work, even in the face of #DEI pushback. In the work to continue accelerating racial equity and justice, we invite you to reflect on the love, care, and support systems that are already within your grasp. These questions are grounded in our Thriving Leaders & Communities research report, which details the conditions necessary for BIPOC leaders to thrive within their communities and organizations. You can download it in the comments below. ?? #CultivateThriving #thrivingleaders #thrivingorganizations #communityleaders #racialequity

"Ancestral love moving us forward" was a strong underlying theme of 2024 for me. One huge highlight was that I was able to bring the ProInspire Leadership Institute: Managing People and Power (PLI MPP) training to Detroit this past August for our first ever in-person cohort! This happened amidst a literal storm, leading to a power outage at our originally booked location the morning of our very first day of training. ?? As our lovely rapid response crew of Isabelle Moses, Ha'Na Muhammad, and others so aptly put it, however, it was "a beautiful accident" because it led us to moving the training to the LOVE Building, which ended up being such an aligned space for our group. ?? Detroit is home to so much liberatory leadership theory and practice, and the LOVE Building itself is home to many such organizations. It was a joy to work with PLI MPP's newest graduates on skill-building for that subject in this space this summer. At one point, when I was able to pause after we settled in, I took a good look at the frames lining the walls and realized one of the ancestors pictured is Mama Lila Cabbil, may she rest in peace and in power. Her expertise is directly cited in the PLI curriculum and it did my heart good to see one of my mentors looking in during a PLI for the first time after I've delivered some 8+ cohorts of this exact training since 2021. ???? A special shoutout to Executive Director Kwaku Osei and the rest of the LOVE Building team for making this opportunity possible for ProInspire. You all went above and beyond and I cannot wait to be back to visit. #Detroit #PLI24 #LiberatoryLeadership #LoveBuilding #ancestors #MovementBuilding #leaders #ProInspire #ProInspireLeadershipInstitute
