We kicked off the celebration at our Professional Women in Construction Chicago Chapter Annual Member Meeting with heartfelt member stories. One shared about how attending our smaller networking events and engaging with other members made her feel confident enough to actually come on stage and share her experience in front of this larger audience. Others described how joining our 1:1 mentorship program looking for career guidance gained them not only that but a new confidant and friend. The common thread to these inspiring stories? We celebrate being part of a community who are showing up daily to support each other.? ? The Board of Directors shared highlights of our chapter’s growth as we enter our 4th year (over 460 members from more than 100 companies!) and of the many new ways we’ve come together in 2024 (Meet the Primes! Professional Women in Construction Chicago Chapter was well represented at the recent REjournals Chicagoland Construction Summit. Chapter President Sara Urizar led a panel focused on "Women & Diversity in Construction" featuring our Founding Board members Kasie Mathena and Ta Juana Tang along with Lynda Dossey, AIA, Marcus Evans, and Beth Bleser. Reflecting what we're beginning to see in the AEC industry, this diverse group spoke about the importance of providing not only opportunities but also resources and support at every level. They called out the challenges faced by women and minorities and shared what makes them hopeful for our collective futures. From company leadership to peer-to-peer connections to associations like PWC, we all need to be intentional about investing in and nurturing under-represented groups in our industry to keep changing the paradigm. We appreciate all our PWC Chicago chapter members who came out to support us at this event!
