Did you know that only 4% of Americans don’t think recycling is confusing? 28% think it’s more confusing than putting together IKEA furniture. Seeing those stats might make you feel like recycling isn’t working the way it should, and in some cases I’d say I agree. However, the truth is that recycling does work, and there are so many successes happening on a daily basis that don’t get the attention they deserve. The past few days I got to learn about some of those successes, and I even gained some knowledge on how to help drive even more success in recycling, reuse, and circularity too. It was such a rewarding experience to attend the Professional Recyclers Of Pennsylvania (PROP) conference the last few days. From the incredible presenters and presentations, to the amazing network of fellow recycling professionals that I got to meet, reconnect, or speak with, it’s hard to feel alone in what I do each day to promote recycling in the Commonwealth. I’m beyond grateful for all the hard work each and every one of these wonderful people so tirelessly do to make recycling not just be a little less confusing, but also make sure it even happens at all. You’re all unsung heroes and I appreciate you.
