Cheers to the women of Product Marketing. ???? I have been so honoured to meet and befriend such amazing women in the field of Product Marketing over my 10+ year career in tech. Women have championed me like no other. We have each other's backs. We help each other not only survive, but thrive; because on an instinctive basis we understand what we have and had to go through to break in. Misogyny. Sexism. Gender pay gap. All of this nonsense in the workplace purely because of who we are. It's absurd. Absolutely absurd. And it needs to end. However, the silver lining out of the chaos is the calm. The fostering of strong friendships, community and support for one another in a tough job role to be in. I wish I could include every single woman in Product Marketing I've had the absolute pleasure of speaking to over LinkedIn, in my community, and at my London PMM meet-ups (next one's March 26!), but there was only so many headshot circles I could edit without going absolutely insane haha! Here is to all of you, and especially the 30 exceptional women in PMM who have personally added to my life in the form of clients, online friends, and people who inspire me from afar. Let us continue to support one another. Let us raise women who empower one another. Let us be who we wish we had when we were younger. Happy International Women's Day for Saturday PMMs! ?? --- ?? Also hi! I’m Hattie the PMM and I help PMMs build career-defining personal brands that increase their visibility and unlock high-impact opportunities. How? Through 1:1 coaching, group coaching or access to my online PMM community. DM me for a chat!

One month ago I launched productmarketers.com and what a month it has been!!! ???? At first, I wondered if positioning it as a personal branding community for PMMs was the right move. But after speaking with our members and group coaching clients (who, by the way, are Heads, Directors & VPs of PMM), one thing became clear: Personal branding solves every major PMM pain point. ? Want a new job? Build an external personal brand. ? Want more security at a chaotic company? Build an internal personal brand. ? Want recruiters & top opportunities coming to YOU? Build an external personal brand. ? Want a more exciting career & life? Stand out and build an external personal brand. PMMs from Barcelona to Boston, Amsterdam to Utah have already had huge breakthroughs just four weeks in. And the guest sessions? Incredible. ? Sora Lee shared her $400K salary personal brand playbook, using it to work at Adobe, Netflix, Meta and TikTok as Gobal Head of Product Marketing, whilst also being on CNBC, and a Netflix show, to building a presence to networking her way into Harvard Business School talks. ? Louis Grenier ex-PMM at Hotjar now author of Stand The F*ck Out & podcast host of the famous Everyone Hates Marketers is speaking to us next week on how to differentiate & stand out. ? AND Anthony Pierri ?? & Robert Kaminski ?? (aka the Fletch PMM guys) will join us soon. They went from PMM employees, to turning their LinkedIn personal brands into a $1.2M+ ARR consultancy, and they’re breaking it all down for our members. And now? I’m conducting market research for an exciting new coaching offer designed specifically for Heads, Directors, and VPs of Product Marketing, plus fractional PMMs and consultants looking to attract more clients and scale their business. That will be launching once completed too. (DM me to learn more!) Through this, I’ve realised something: people are so afraid to build in public. Afraid to look silly. Afraid to fail. But the truth? No one is thinking about you as much as you think they are. If there’s one thing I want for PMMs, who I care about so much, it’s to just try. To try and see how amazing life can be when you stop waiting and start showing up. And I and the amazing, supportive, ambitious productmarketers.com members are here for you!! Come join us and make this your stand out year. Happy 1 month productmarketers.com ?? Hattie #productmarketing #personalbranding #pmm

“They don’t listen to Product Marketing.” Sound familiar? Here’s the harsh truth: PMMs don’t get ignored because we’re wrong. We get ignored because we’re playing the wrong game. I learned this the hard way. The data was solid. The research was thorough. The risks were clear. But I was still getting sidelined. Then I changed my approach: 1. Pre-meeting influence – Secure an exec champion first – Frame everything in revenue impact – Build 1:1 alignment before group discussions 2. Meeting dynamics – Lead with cross-functional wins – Lock in measurable outcomes – Make others look good 3. Follow-through power – Flag risks early – Over-communicate wins – Build momentum with quick victories Here’s what nobody tells you: ? PMMs don’t win influence by being right. ? We win by being strategically indispensable. Want to stop being seen as “just the messaging person”? Stop acting like one! Your credibility isn’t built in presentations. It’s built in the quiet moments before and after. It's the internal personal brand you have. It really is called "office politics" for a reason lol. What’s your go-to move for building stakeholder trust? Let’s talk about it. P.S. Want the complete playbook? Download it here: https://lnkd.in/e22jnwHb #productmarketing #pmm

PMMs don’t fail because they’re bad at their jobs. They fail because they’re stuck in the wrong quadrant. I’ve seen it over and over. Workhorse PMMs who execute flawlessly but don’t have influence, getting let go in tech layoffs… While the yappers, the ones who talk a big game but don’t deliver, somehow survive. ????♀? We can’t afford to be just one or the other. ? Influence without execution fades. ? Execution without influence keeps us stuck in support mode. IMO to be a high-impact PMM we need both. But too many PMMs get stuck in one of these traps: ?? The yapper PMM They’ve got leadership’s ear but struggle to follow through. Big ideas, strong opinions, but execution gaps mean their influence fades fast. ?? The ghost PMM These PMMs feel the most invisible. No influence, no execution power. Always blocked, overlooked, and struggling to prove their value. ?? The workhorse PMM The go-to for execution but never part of strategic conversations. They get stuff done but have no seat at the table, stuck reacting instead of leading. The trick is to aim for a balance: ? The ideal PMM Drives impact, shapes decisions, and executes effectively. Leadership trusts them, cross-functional teams rely on them, and they’re seen as strategic partners. Here are some prompting questions to think about if you don't quite feel like you're in the ideal PMM quadrant: 1. If I left my company today, what would they lose? 2. Am I influencing decisions, or just executing tasks? 3. Do cross-functional teams seek out my input, or do I have to fight to be included? Which quadrant do you think most PMMs are stuck in? My guess would be the workhorse PMM. Comment your guess below. ?? #productmarketing #productmarketer #pmm
