I just wrapped up the Product Ops HQ Jan meetup. My predictions for Product Ops (and Tech Ops!) in 2025: 1) We need to champion outcomes-oriented Tech teams. It is insufficient to simply administer roadmaps and OKRs. We need to be stewards of these processes and hold our Tech teams to high standards. If you don't understand the value of a particular project, ask questions and probe until you do! 2) We should be the enablers of GenAI at our companies. Product Operations sits at the intersection of so many things -- we have deep product knowledge, insights into customer/user feedback, visibility into where teams are still relying on manual process. These insights combined with our intuition for good process design makes us the perfect enablers to equip our colleagues to develop their own GenAI use cases. 3) We should think expansively about where our process design / operational efficiency superpowers are well suited. This may mean flexing into processes beyond product management -- for example, at Oscar Health, our Tech Ops team has taken the lead working with Engineers to redesign our Incident Management and Job Monitoring processes. By taking advantage of these opportunities, I know that Product Ops will be set up for success in 2025 and beyond! A huge thank you to Ana Raquel Andrade at Dragonboat for coordinating this and other community events.
