We are pleased to share that Nicholas Siefert, Research Mechanical Engineer at DOE’s National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) and part-time instructor at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), will be speaking at the?35th Annual Produced Water Society Conference! Nick will be presenting on?National Energy Water Treatment & Speciation (NEWTS): A Water & Critical Minerals Database and Dashboard. After graduating from Princeton University in 2002, Dr. Siefert served in the Active Duty U.S. Air Force and has been working at NETL since 2008. He leads in-house R&D in Produced Water Management and Effluent Treatment, where his team developed and licensed a low-cost sorbent material for selectively removing heavy metals and critical minerals from waste effluent streams. This innovation earned them both a?2021 R&D100 Award?and the?2021 Secretary of Energy Team Award. In 2022, he also led the release of the?NEWTS Database and Dashboard, a valuable tool for wastewater analysis and aqueous chemistry modeling. At the conference, Dr. Siefert will be sharing his expertise on the latest advancements in produced water treatment technologies and sustainable water management practices. She has led Aris Water Solutions since its inception, focusing on produced water infrastructure and recycling in the Permian Basin. Prior to Aris, Amanda was CEO of Water Standard, a leader in water treatment and desalination for the energy sector, and served in top roles at Azurix and Enron. In addition to her executive roles, Amanda serves on the boards of Coterra Energy and Aris Water Solutions Corporation, and has been recognized as one of the Top 10 Women in Energy and one of the Top 25 Leaders in Water globally.
