Thank you to everyone who attended "Get Involved: Stories of Bahamian Civil Society" Book Talk. If you missed the event, check it out on our YouTube Channel!?????? Although philanthropy is widely considered a global practice, Eurocentric depictions dominate the conversation. In Get Involved: Stories of Bahamian Civil Society, Kim Williams-Pulfer, Ph.D. provides a sociological deep dive that draws on the narratives of Afro-Bahamian communities through the lens of 'philanthropy from below.' Get Involved! brings to life an under-documented story of philanthropy, broadening the dominant perspective by bringing attention to a place, its practices of cross-communal support, its rich history, and its vibrant people. The conversation presents the book's narrative findings and discuss how its analytical framework provides a conceptual and methodological foundation for studies of other populations who continue to practice their forms of philanthropic leadership.
