The Senate voted Friday afternoon to pass the House Republican-drafted bill to fund government through September, avoiding a government shutdown hours before funding was due to lapse. President Trump is expected to sign the bill into law. Passage of the bill means that lawmakers won’t battle over funding the government again until the fall.
