Our mission / Stand in the gap for vulnerable populations while empowering youth to actively transform their communities
关于我们
ProAct Indy’s mission is to stand in the gap for vulnerable populations while empowering youth to actively transform their communities. Guided by our values of Humility, Empathy, Adaptability, Resilience, and Transparency, we work to realize a vision of turning the world outward. That is to say, we envision our communities where youth and adults alike adopt an Outward Mindset - whereas, people see others as people, not objects. In this way, we help youth, individuals, teams, and organizations move from the default self-focus of an inward mindset to the results-focus of an outward mindset. Through training, coaching, mentoring, and a suite of implementation tools, we enable youth, organizations, and their people to achieve results that are only possible with an outward mindset.

We all have somewhere we want to end up in life, but often, the path isn’t easy. The difference between those who make it and those who don’t are the people who pick themselves back up time and time again. A company builder, best-selling author, and business + executive coach, Scott Abbott shares the story of how he “got his shit together” after moving across the country to Los Angeles. Scott paints a picture of how he took control of his life and climbed up from rock bottom. He details how he went from the lowest point in his life to building companies through perseverance and a little bit of luck. Throughout this episode, you’ll learn how the phrase “Get your shit together” shifted Scott’s perspective on life. You’ll also learn how to make changes in your everyday life by taking the initiative in making your goals a reality and how to swallow your pride and accept help in the face of adversity. ?In this episode, you’ll learn:? Last Saturday, students from Willow Lake and Westlane worked with SoapBox Racing at their track! Students got the opportunity to learn how to race in the soap box cars, while also working to help SoapBox leaders clean up the areas surrounding the track and pavilion area in preparing for weather circumstances, as well as their Halloween event on October 28th. Our ProAct students will be back at the track to help out and participate in SoapBox's Halloween event!

October 10th is World Mental Health Day. World Mental Health Day is an international day used to raise awareness, advocate, and educate about the social stigma. It is important to advance your understanding and encourage action during this day, to help those around you understand what they can do protect one's mental health. Here are some things you can do: - Educate yourself and others on Mental Illness warning signs and symptoms - Practice Kindness and Compassion - Taking time for your wellbeing - Text a friend/Call a loved one - Practice meditation Another thing you can do, that we at ProAct Indy implement monthly, is taking a mental health day! It is imperative that you take time for yourself, and use that time for whatever you may be needing at that time. If you or a loved one need help in a mental health crisis or distress, call or text 988 to talk with a trained crisis counselor.
