    ?? Career Corner: Getting Aligned on Priorities ?? Our recent Pulse survey revealed room for improvement in executive team and deal team alignment on priorities: ?? 45% of PE-backed management teams are not taking full advantage of their boards. Nearly a third find their board gets in the way! ?? A typical management team of five spends over 1,500 hours annually preparing for board meetings, Monthly Operating Reviews, and ad hoc sponsor inquiries combined. ?? Nearly half of all executives rarely push back on ad hoc sponsor inquiries they find unnecessary or distracting. Only 7% feel empowered to push back regularly. This reveals dysfunction on both sides of the sponsor-executive partnership. To shift this dynamic and ensure time is focused on value creation, executives can consider the following action steps: ?? Foster open dialogue with your sponsor about the value of ad hoc inquiries. Remember, both you and the sponsor share the same goal: maximizing returns at exit. Help them understand the importance of aligning inquiries with strategic priorities and tactfully remind them of the time constraints within the PE-backed environment. ?? View your board as a strategic lever — not a challenge. Most board members want to actively support your leadership team. Tap into their expertise and make sure they’re aligned with your goals. ?? Collaborate with your sponsor to define a set amount of time each week or month for managing up to deal teams. Establish mutually beneficial inquiries and data-sharing protocols to streamline collaboration on both sides. #PrivateEquity #ExecutiveLeadership #ValueCreation
