?? Our own Corey Jones was given the opportunity to represent PrismWork on NPR's All Things Considered, discussing the rise of cubicle comedians in the workplace. These hilarious individuals are shedding light on the tired state of leadership in the office through their comedic antics. ?? But there's more to their humor than meets the eye. Listen to the conversation, as Corey explains how workplace humor can be a powerful tool for driving change and creating a more productive work environment. Shoutout to Corporate Erin, the Nonprofit boss, and Corporate Baddie for doing their thing and keeping us all laughing. Take a listen to the conversation and let us know your thoughts. #Embrace2024 #PrismWork #ModernLeadership #workplacehumor https://lnkd.in/gUi5kbNF

Setting goals for next year? Keep in mind that every stage of the employee process presents opportunities to create a more inclusive, supportive workplace. Here are three great ideas for ?? best-in-class practices:?? 1?? HIRING: Make sure your declines are handled as carefully as your hires. Don’t ghost talent. Following up on interviews with feedback or decisions helps build your reputation as an organization. 2?? ONBOARDING: Create an onboarding plan that includes details on workplace programs and policies. Plus, explain culture norms that may not show up in the employee manual. 3?? MEETINGS: If you don’t have a team member who formally handles support tasks, distribute office ”housework” evenly. This includes taking notes, ordering lunch, and the like. ?? Have you ever asked yourself, “Why the heck am I working this hard?” If so, take it as a sign to stop and think deeper about your “why,” or more specifically your leadership purpose. ”Your leadership purpose is who you are and what makes you distinctive. Whether you’re an entrepreneur at a start-up or the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, a call center rep or a software developer, your purpose is your brand, what you’re driven to achieve, the magic that makes you tick,” according to leadership experts Nick Craig and Scott Snook in a seminal Harvard Business Review article: https://lnkd.in/dvWhQTn. Not sure what your leadership purpose is? Here are two great resources to help you reflect on your values and figure out what type of leader you aspire to be: 1?? Take a quick “Purpose in Life” quiz from The Greater Good Science Center at the University of California, Berkeley: https://lnkd.in/dnBABg7. 2?? Listen to the “Living Into Our Values” episode of the “Unlocking Us” podcast from Brené Brown, and then work through a short thought exercise: https://lnkd.in/g3NZVcjf. ?? For many of us, December means reviewing metrics, such as sales numbers, key performance indicators (KPIs), or objectives and key results (OKRs). ?? “If you’re a leader, now’s also a great time to reflect on your leadership and people skills—and identify any opportunities for improvement,” says Corey Jones, a PrismWork co-founder. Here are six defining signs of ?? best-in-class leaders. Can you answer “yes” to these questions? 1?? HUMILITY. Do you think beyond yourself to consider the needs of all stakeholders? Do you ask, “What have I done for others?” 2?? EMPATHY. Do you understand the needs of others and prioritize your team’s development? Do you empower a culture of curiosity and learning? 3?? ACCOUNTABILITY. Do you offer clear objectives and feedback? Do you think beyond results and focus on your impact on people, our planet, and profits? 4?? RESILIENCY. Do you adapt to challenges and failures with agility? Have you built resiliency not just for your own career, but also to support others? 5?? TRANSPARENCY. Are you committed to ongoing communication with public reporting on key issues, including diversity, equity, and inclusion; pay equity; and sustainability? 6?? INCLUSIVITY. Have you built diversity, equity, and inclusion into the DNA of the company? Do you foster a culture of belonging so that employees feel welcome and supported? ??
