Jet Engines – Out with the New, In with the Old… Sometimes older is actually better than newer, even when the sky’s the limit. Such as in the aviation industry where leasing old jet engines is actually more cost effective and efficient for carriers than buying shiny new ones. The post-pandemic aviation industry was supposed to be flooded with an oversupply of aircraft, engines, and unneeded parts. But just when the industry prognosticators had it all figured out, people did something different – and decided to fly anyway, and a lot. Enter the savvy player FTAI with a flight plan to disrupt their corner of the aviation supply chain, and who’s success in doing so is a textbook example of how to turn turbulence into value within an industry. At PriSim, we start our BizFighter? aerospace and defense business simulation classes with several suppliers signaling ‘mayday’, with lousy cost and schedule performance (CPI and SPI). Teams are challenged to chart a course of improvement for their integrated supply chain. Should they invest in their suppliers? Adjust their days-payable? Use different suppliers? What an amazing week of learning & networking down in Dallas, TX for Session B of the RTX Leadership Development Program. I had the opportunity to network and collaborate with top talent across different functions of the RTX business. Some highlights of the week include Aerospace and Defense Business Simulation - BizFighter ? where my group ran our own simulated A&D company. Here, we built incredible industry-specific financial acumen and got to understand the A&D market in depth. We also kicked off our Impact Projects where we will work for almost a year as a cross-functional team to solve a key issue within the RTX business. My cohort also had the opportunity to hear from some unbelievable speakers including Charles Moore D.Eng (RTX C.O.R.E operating model) and Michael Donahue (Why RTX products have to work the first time, every time). Thank you to all who made this session possible and I look forward to applying my learnings in my current role!

Had a great class running our BizFighter.EXE? business simulation class with Program Managers from Lockheed Martin's Missiles and Fire Control business area! Threw in unexpected challenges using PriSim's Disruptor Engine tool as teams worked on estimate-at-complete (EACs) and executed their strategies. Just finished an incredible week at Session B with the RTX LDP Class of 2025. Our team of six took on the PriSim Business War Games and Business Simulations BizFighter? business simulation and emerged as winners, breaking records in Booking Margin and ROA! It was a fantastic experience working alongside talented colleagues and learning from the best in the industry. Grateful to have had the opportunity to collaborate on impactful projects and sharpen our business acumen. Over the next 10 months our team will tackle a business challenge that will make a direct impact on the business. I am excited to take the knowledge and network gained here into this challenge.
