The Daily Heller: Women Who Matter ?? Toronto-based Anita Kunz has employed a distinct contemporary classical style of painting to create some caustic caricature and satire of the late 20th and 21st centuries (though to see her, you wouldn’t know she’s been working as long as she has). Her assignments as an editorial illustrator, however, like many of her generation, have not been consistent. So, she’s turned inward and outward to find inspiration for current projects. In recent years she’s been working on portraits of highly accomplished and under-represented women from past and present. From November 9- May 26, 2025, her exhibit of over 250 images from her massive oeuvre, titled “Anita Kunz: Original Sisters: Portraits of Tenacity and Courage,” will be on exhibit at the Norman Rockwell Museum. Thalia Gochez Honors Latine Identity Through Her Immersive Photographs ?? Los Angeles-based photographer Thalia Gochez bought her first camera at a flea market for a buck and never looked back. Raised just outside of LA in Pasadena in a Mexican-Salvadorian household, her Latine heritage is the central force behind her point of view as a photographer and the worlds she captures in her work. The Daily Heller: Learning to Live With Salmon ??? What is long, narrow and folds open from the top? It is ROSA: The Very Brave Salmon, a new book by Klaas Verplancke, in which a wild pink fish braves wild, rushing brooks, and is to be expected to start spawning. But also, in her existential quest, ROSA travels any way possible using human means, such as fire hose, child’s tears and watering can to reach her destination. All this so she can, at the end (and this is not a spoiler: she will die a salmon’s ritual death). Verplancke’s tale is one of endurance, courage, and the power of behavior in nature. CoDesign Collaborative curates and produces design-centered exhibitions, publications, and educational initiatives for creative problem solvers of all ages and career levels. Founded in 2009 as Design Museum Boston and then rebranding to Design Museum Everywhere, this unique community-centered and virtual design destination has always believed that design is a tool for social good. A museum without walls was a groundbreaking concept at the outset. But, as they evolved and grew over the years, they felt the need for a name to better represent their work. CoDesign Collaborative expresses the collective nature of their ongoing journey.
